Elizabeth ordering Amy killed doesn’t hold water. She was a very cunning and calculating woman. She knew Amy was sick and dying so all she had to do was wait for that to happen and bam she could marry him without any scandal. Think that William Cecil had Amy because he didn’t want Dudley to become king because he would loose his power and influence and because he wanted Elizabeth to marry a foreign prince, king or duke so that Elizabeth had allies and thought with a marriage to Dudley being impossible he could convince her to marry someone else:

I agree... killing Amy bought scandal to Dudley, so there was no way the queen could marry him than which is what Cecil wanted....

If Elizabeth had truly wanted to marry Dudley, the last thing she would have wanted is for Amy to die with any suspicions surrounding the circumstances of the death, and more specifically with any suspicions pointing to either Dudley or herself.

Perhaps Amy was murdered so Queen could not marry Duds, no matter what.

I also believe that Cecil is responsible for Amy's death, he knew that was definitely the way to prevent the marriage between the Queen and Dudley, because of the scandal.

Elizabeth I would never dare do something that would ruin her reputation. She was very careful in not making the same mistakes her sister Mary I did which was why she sent Robert away after the scandal Amy Robsart's death caused.

Do I believe somebody might have done it to earn favour, or to damage, the Queen's reputation? Very possibly. It would make no sense for Elizabeth to order the hit, because the scandal of her possible involvement would nean she and Fudley could never marry.

William Cecil also should have been considered a suspect as well, since he would have had a lot more to gain…

According to both Roman Catholic canon law *AND* according to standard English dynastic practice, as well as Tudor common law, would it not have been *impossible* for Queen Elizabeth I to *marry* King Phillip II of Spain, as he was her brother-in-law, having technically been married to Elizabeth’s older half-sister, Queen Mary I? Isn’t the illegality of marrying one’s sibling’s married partner after the sibling’s death *precisely* the argument Henry VIII had made to have his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled?

@@Official_Royalworld oh, I was not AT ALL “criticising” the video, just pointing out that Philip II’s much-vaunted “Catholic piety” was rather flexible.

It says the dent was a thumb length long, not deep. Head wounds bleed profusely. It would have been a lot messier.

What about Amy’s family? They should have demanded an investigation into her death. BTW, narration by Chris Skidmore is spot on plus he is very pleasant to the eyes 😊

You need to do better research on the reign of Mary l. “Reign of terror, crippled with debt”. Debt she inherited and there is so much she actually did in relation to finances, coinage (that had been debased so badly under her predecessors), the navy, trade with the east etc. Biased
