Amazing. Seems recorded from maintenance train at night. When lines are closed and tunel lighting is on.

Nice footage! My office was not far from Farringdon. Since 2018, Was hoping this line would be finished to save my using the H & S slow line from Whitechapel. But lockdown made me redundant, so it'll have to be a joy-ride for me whenever it does become fully operational.

Thanks for uploading.Its a shame its behind schedule but they have to make sure everythings safe and sound,after all it's been a terrific engineering achievement so far ,what with working around everyone's day to day city life trying their best to reduce and keep inconvenience down to a minimum.

An amazing piece of infrastructure Here in Sydney we have the new Sydney metro which is really good and the tunnels look similar. The line is electrified at 1500dc just like the normal Sydney trains. I simply don't understand why with a Greenfield stand alone network they never went with 25kv. Perhaps someone has shares in a copper mining company because there are dual thick contact wires due to the high current with rhe lower 1500dc .

Fantastic video an what a fabulous rail construction. I’m looking forward to having something like this in Melbourne Aus. Well done.

This looks amazing at night. Including when the tunnel is lit up. The Elizabeth Line should of opened last year. What about from Stratford to Whitechapel and Westbourne Park.

Loving the lack of lineside signalling. The whole of the mainline network should be like this!!!!!! All the infrastructure looks BEAUTIFUL!! Love it 👍 I take it the beeping is the DRA system?
@icedragongamer46463 жыл бұрын
Very interesting I hope that it will be computer controlled for as much as possible. The lack of features, shifts, shift length and sensory deprivation may have an effect on the drivers. I'm glad I didn't go this way. But when it works it would make a massive difference in travel. I've been told it could be 2024 for a full service over the whole system. Good luck stay safe and healthy

Presumably when Crossrail does eventually open, most of the tunnel lights that are currently on will be switched off?
@CityWhisperer4 жыл бұрын
These are always turned on in case of emergency. If the train’s power goes out or you need to perform an evacuation you need to know where you’re stepping.
@paulsmith27644 жыл бұрын
@@CityWhisperer The lights are turned off at all times, and emergency lighting will be used if the need to evacuate ever occurs. The only lighting through the tunnel will be that from the headlights.

Great views, how come the Connaught tunnels were in darkness. Good to see new rail infrastructure, the price needs to come down or the initial pricing need to be more realistic. We need more big projects around the county if we are going to meet net zero co2 emissions by 2050. Forget electric cars, we need electric trains.
@jammin0233 жыл бұрын
If you watch this on a big screen, and stare at vanishing point of the tunnel as it's whooshing past, for a couple of minutes or so, and then pause the video, it goes quite trippy...

I live opposite Custom house station, I’m on the main road, the old building, but it’s new inside, it used to be a college or something, I can’t wait to sit on those trains, 😃, I moved to Custom House nearly 10 years ago, Nov 2012, I’m originally from Leyton in East London, my family home, then I got a flat in Custom House, I’ve watched them do the Crossrail, that was quick, but it was nightmare when used to go to work, some times we could not use the d.l.r and they made another stair case for us to the d.l.r, making it long for us to get into the platform, I used to pissed off, some times I would miss the train due to going the other way to the station, but now kind of ready, but they were few years late opening the Crossrail which pissed off, the line will help to the West End instead of getting the jubliee line

Another childish Yawwie reference, I see 😌. Look you gotta understand the UK government doesnt fulfil its promises and neither do big projects like these. So much new tech on this that UK rail hasn't used until now means that, well, it had to have a big setback at some point.
