A curioud case Margaret Beaufort. Her own book paints her as neither heroine nor evil. She's her own hero. A feminist figure because she was learned, intelligent, strong. It was a big deal for a woman then. But yeah, she was the mother in law from hell. Scheming. In this version she gave an order for the death of two boys. She did at least hesitate whether it was the right thing to do, and she showed remorse.

But she chose a black top which would mean she's insulting Henry one way or the other. Historically, both Lizzie or her mother were never part of any plot to overthrow the Tudors. Both of them led lives in peace rather than at war. Sure, the sister of Edward IV and Richard III was pissed off and that was real life but the thing is by marrying Lizzie, Henry VII gets legitimized by it. Because completely both of his bloodline were bastard bloodlines no matter how valuable. Henry VII got to rule very well by having Lizzie by his side and both of them did fall in love. I like this series because they showed us an adaptation of the great story before Henry VIII but sometimes the creative license overshadows truths

The book puts it all down to Lizzie being pregnant at the time and she had to be strapped down a bit. Henry almost went for it that night because she wound him up but he wouldn't dare in case he harmed their child. But Lizzie actually shows a lot of cleavage even when she's not pregnant, no wonder they had about seven kids! (Very few are seen in the series but Lizzie did actually have several children)

@zaker7212 жыл бұрын
@@masterplokoon8803 I think they left all the old Tudor accusations against Richard intentionally open ended, since even today the jury is still out regarding just what Richard’s role in so much of what occurred was. As to being her uncle--that IS true both IRL and in the movie--but an uncle who looks like Aneurin Barnard is an easy one to crush on.
@masterplokoon88032 жыл бұрын
@@zaker721 none of what I said were Tudor acusations it was facts. Richard killed her mother's brother who simply tried to defend her brother, he declared her and her siblings bastards and shamed her mother, he locked away her brothers in the Tower.That is both true in real life and the show. And she never was Richard's lover in real life. Why on earth would she fall in love with the guy who did all of those things? And what's worse is that the show tries to portray it as a cute romance when it's just messed up in every way and doesn't make any sense.
@caroline_Ravenslayer2 жыл бұрын
@@masterplokoon8803 that's still speculation with Richard III being responsible for the boys' deaths, true he imprisoned them in the tower but there were other factions with access to them with a motive too i.e. Duke of Buckingham and Margaret Beaufort. Do I believe that Richard III and Elizabeth of York were romantically involved? No, I don't think so, I think all that was fabricated for the show. Though historically, it's rumoured that Richard III intended to marry his brother's daughter, Elizabeth of York, and the European families DO have a habit of intermarrying to keep their "bloodline" pure and their political power "within" the family

The blood was to pretend that she was a virgin (sometimes women bleed on their first time). As well as to 'prove' that the marriage was consummated on the wedding night, and not beforehand as legally the baby would the be bastard because it was conceived outside of wedlock and therefore not be allowed by law to inherit the thrown.

Throughout their marriage, the real life Elizabeth and Henry fell truly and madly in love. They loved each other deeply. They wrote letters to one another, gave each other gifts, expressed their love all the time. Henry also NEVER took a single mistress because of his love for Elizabeth which is unheard of for a King. When Elizabeth died giving birth Henry was completely devastated.

Juanita Richards hi I was wondering if you know any good non fiction about Elizabeth of York, because I know that I looked up her and her husband on the internet here what I found Evidence of their happiness appeared a short 8 months after their marriage when their greatest hope for the future was born. Prince Arthur was likely born prematurely, possibly even conceived on Henry and Elizabeth’s wedding night. The royal couple praised God and asked his blessings on their future as they welcomed this sure signal from God that their union had His favor. An I know that Henry didn’t force himself on Elizabeth but we don’t know history too we’ll do we

@@ainsleycarland6071 There is a book in my local library about Henry ll and Elizabeth and their marriage. It actually was a happy marriage and he loved her deeply - one of the only kings who never took mistresses. But she did have the MIL from Hell who interfered a lot. I can't remember the name of the book but it did show that later in their marriage there was a separation of some kind. Elizabeth went on a long pilgrimage and was away fro some months. I can't remember all the details but it had information not found elsewhere - it was very detailed and the research in depth. It must be listed somewhere, the name of the book.
