I so love you ms Vargas! Courage and honesty. It is true. Your story makes me think of my anxiety and depression and ptsd. We use to self medicate and help. And it turns on us. No shame me Vargas. You are an overcomer beautiful soul!! So intelligent and encouragement..dios contigo no Amiga! Xxoo

Oh my!! I am hoping and praying she stays sober. Anything can set it off. I just lost my youngest sister July 28, 2023. She always drank but it was beer. Then she turned to vodka or whatever she could get her hands on. She was arrested twice for dui . And both times went through 12 step program. My parents had 3 daughters (me the middle) and we are all eighteen months apart and we all live in different states. On January 27, 2020 both my parents were admitted into ICU both in different hospitals in Knoxville TN. They were divorced. My little sister (Rhonda) who lived in little river SC came and picked me up (,I live in Fayetteville NC 1hr 45 min away from SC). My older sister lives in Naples,FL. So she had to fly to Knoxville. Daddy died 5 days I later and my mother who had sepsis in her foot was said all clear by Dr. We could go home. Well they sent my mother to rehab which was connected to hospital (Knoxville orthopedic clinic). Well my mother was not clear. Sepsis went to her spine. And covid just broke out. Rhonda started drinking more and more. Starting when she 1st woke up. It was an all day event every day. We offered to get her rehab and pay and she said no. She can quit on her own. She was a bank teller for 32 yrs. Lost her job. Has a beautiful home in little river,SC. But she started declining. Depression anxiety panic attacks. She could not accept my mother's passing. Which I do agree they let her die. Anyway, she was averaging almost 2 fifths of vodka (straight) a day. She was a mean alcoholic. She thought nobody knew she was drinking. Vodka bottles hidden everywhere. 2 yrs ago she came and stayed with me for 3 days drunk the whole time. It was terrible. Needless to say me and my older sister get a call about June 24th, 2023. Rhonda is in ICU. End of stage 4 cirrosis of liver. Shock. I was on my way to hospital and she called me saying "Tina, hospice is coming to talk to me what is going on and was crying". I told her it was just a normal protocol. Anyway, they sent her home with hospice. And gave her maybe 6 months to live. She did not know that. She lived 1month and 4 days. I was there when she passed. Each week she deteriorated so much. She could not talk walk eat or nothing. Vodka had ahold of her and would not let go. It's a morbid death. I asked the hospice nurses why does she just stare off into space? They told me regrets and mad at themselves. Please anyone that is drinking alcohol can kill you. She was 57. She was a strong person and never thought it would happen to her and it did. Alcoholism is so addictive. 😢

It also helps those who are struggling with an addictive partner too. One has to be honest about the situation, and be there for them getting through the process of healing.

I have anxiety from a stroke and rewiring. I can manage with what I learned in psychotherapy yet a couple of shots releases as much dopamine as a hug.
