You could easily make a shorter vinyl pocket for your chart, bind the top and layer with the fabric pocket, and move the chart when putting it away. Or you could copy and laminate the picture?

Hi Elizabeth! Love this folder and plan to make many more. I see seasonal fabric to match the season I am stitching. I made one change of adding a 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" clear pocket to the upper right on the front so I can put the name of the project contained in the folder. Thanks again for the great tutorial!

Love your folder!! I made a similar one today, big $$ saving tip: as the Bosal I use is 20", my bags will be 20" so I don't have the waste and with a 13.5 x 20"folder, I can put my stash of Fat Quarters to use

Stephanie… I was wondering, if you start at 20”, do you lose any significant amount when you quilt the panels? I dont think I would want to go much smaller than 20, but I do want to make several so not wasting bosal is a great idea.

@@stephaniecampbellweitzman3591 this is weird, but I accidentally ordered the single side fusible Pellon. When it arrived, the bolt was labeled as such, but the paper insert that is rolled in n the roll said 2 sided and sure enough, it is two sided!

Thanks for the very precise instructions. I also like the extra tip on using a crochet hook for turning the flap and pushing out the corners. When doing the binding your instructions to stitch into the corners is also another great idea. Can’t wait to make myself a few of these folders thanks to your sharing your talents with this community.

I love this! You did a great job explaining everything in a very concise manner. Be careful with the Frixion pens. They’re great but the lines can reappear if the item gets cold.

We’ll all I can say is I wish I had seen this video five or six years ago when I stumbled through making something similar, but more complicated than it needed to be. A friend mentioned this video on Fb a week ago and the possibility of our group making a folio. This is so easy to follow, even a non sewist could follow and have a nice finished project. If you need two pieces for the pocket that measure 10 1/2" by 13 1/2", that would require the fabric to be 21'" by 27" which is larger than one fat quarter which is usually 21" by 18". However if you used vinyl you would only need one piece the cut size. Great tutorial.

I cannot thank you enough for this tutorial. I have everything in my sewing room except the fusible foam. I went to Joanna today. They only had fusible foam on one side. I will make do. I would say if no one has the magnetic snaps you can use large sew on snaps. One pack at Joanns was $7. I would check Amazon I am off Monday so will be making one 😁😃😊

HACK that works! What works great as a turning tool are those a cleaned extra large Bubble Tea sized straw and a chopstick that fits in the straw. Stick the straw and the edge you want to start turning and start pushing the chopstick thru along with the straw and push it thru using the chopstick to turn it out. The straw seems to slide along fine and I've turned a 60 inch strap thru no problem. I'm sure it'd work fine for long but so far the things I've needed it for haven't been much larger. Oh I turn a large pillow case thru no problem. I've been using this hack for quite a few years. Recenty I've noticed they actually sell something simular for way more money. If you have an Asian supermarket in your city they sell packages for very inexpensive amount.

Just a little comment about the frixion pens, be careful, they reappear when it's cold. And after a few cycles of cold/heat/cold, they don't disappear anymore

If you Spray starch your fabric SEVERAL times before marking with frixion pen and use ONLY FELT tip frixion pens, (NOT METAL TIP) you will have no problem with ink reappearing. The layers of starch form a barrier so the fabric will not absorb the ink.

Why are you worried about starch discoloring……..you should always wash a quilt when your finished putting on the binding.

As for the starch, I don't know how the washing would affect it or not, nor how it would stand the test of time.

A year ago I bought this exact project pattern from someone and it was so complicated it came with 12 pages written and 2 hr video that as an experienced sewer I still had to fudge a couple parts. I don't know how I missed this when you put it up at first but you nailed it. Absolutely perfect instructions.

Excellent tutorial Liz. There is no guessing in regards to instructions. This is a wonderful gift idea for anyone who works with small tools or just keeping craft supplies in one place. I am planning to make a "project case" but adding a couple more loose leaf type clear plastic cases attached at the centre. OMW. That was such a wonderful tutorial. So thorough and I loved the tips. Appreciate the amount of time and work involved. Thank you. That said, I'm totally mystified as to why you use, and in doing so encourage others, to use the most expensive in just about everything involved. Of course there are times when getting the best items you can afford is wise. But so often it's just spending $ that could be better spent or donated. Hope you're getting something from the brands you're advertising?? If so you should probably indicate.

I'm not sure what supplies I used in my video are the most expensive options available. Maybe the ByAnnie magnetic snap? Those are $10 for 2 but they're my favorite ones to use. I am not paid by any brands to talk about them. I WISH ByAnnie paid me to! I have made a lot of ByAnnie patterns and therefore have used a lot of her products and like them. Maybe my quilt fabric is too expensive? Liberty of London is pricier than most quilting fabrics because it's imported but I had it in my stash and wanted to use it! I am only trying to share how I do things and I mention the brands of everything I use because if I don't do it in the video I will have to answer 100 comments asking what I am using!

This looks really great! I haven't done many sewing projects, but I'm excited to try this one out to use as an embroidery bag. My mom uses a bamboo chopstick from our local Chinese buffet as a turning stick, haha. It's nice and long. She's got lots of crochet hooks, I should tell her about that too.
