Loved watching your process. Please do continue with a video on working through with a client. There's definitely an art to hearing and interpreting a client's needs.

I did just release a blog post about client briefs that may be helpful (www.elizabethsilver.com/blog), but I'll try to brainstorm around a video as well

Very helpful and very interesting. Of all of the youtubes on surface patterns I have to say yours has been the most extensive and thorough. I'll keep watching and thank you.

@@ElizabethSilver You are welcome. Keep them coming. I am learning by repetition so I will watch over more than once! I'm retired and starting the game late. I'm a painter by trade and have been doing pours that I think would make great fabric design, which also led me to look closely at surface pattern design.

Hi Elizabeth! Not sure if you've already done one since this video was posted, but I am definitely interested in seeing a video of you dissecting a client brief, etc. That would be helpful! (haven't yet googled if you have done this) thanks for all of your great tips and information!

I did some of my sketches on the ipad, but most of the design work I did on Adobe Illustrator on my desktop.

Hello Elizabeth I am wondering if you can let me know about what resolution or file size you recommend for such projects?
@ElizabethSilver3 жыл бұрын
I work in AI so resizing is easy without loss of quality, I usually start with a 6 or 8" square artboard. If you work in Photoshop you may want to work larger or with a higher DPI (over 300) in case you sell your work and it needs to be enlarged.

Hi there, very interesting video, thanks ! It's valuable to see all the thoughts process! I really reaaaally hope these typo in champagne got spotted before printing though ;)
@ElizabethSilver3 жыл бұрын
LOL, now you've got me frantically searching. I see it in the text only design, and in the end they didn't use that design (see the part 2 to this video where I give an update) Hopefully that's the only spot you saw a mistake. But yes, typos and design mistakes have definitely gone to print in the past, we do what we can do and most people don't notice. I won't tell you the story about the recipe placemat I made in my early design days that somewhere in the many revisions, I dropped a major ingredient from the design and didn't notice, and then it got approved and went to stores.
