I'm looking at the Manas' instructions right now, and it looks like there're supposed to be a couple rubber bands on the underside to keep the "teeth" in place unless the masks get hit. Maybe that's your problem.

+Squidcast You've obviously never played with larger remote-controlled cars or other similarly-motorized stuff. That kind of motor taking six AAs is pretty normal (hell, some of THAT stuff sometimes takes as many as six *C*-cell batteries). Plus when you consider that the RCX also outright runs programs...

Lego stuff is always a massive demand for AA batteries. I have one of the old Spybots, and that takes 3 AA's for the bot, plus some AAA's for the remote. The Mindstorms or Power Functions stuff is even worse, with each needing 6 AA batteries just to run.

+The One Guy 2001's CyberSlam-inspired Rahi are pretty awesome, and I wish I owned some. But because they were not only big (with the exception of the Nui-Rama) but double-packed, all of them but the aforementioned Nui-Rama ($15 at retail) with somewhat hefty price tags: $35 for the Nui-Jaga, $50 for the Tarakava, $70 for the Muaka and Kane-Ra, and $90 (thanks to the electronics) for the Manas. That probably hurt their sales.

+Muslim Duelists Not really. That lever with the gears that can be knocked down is more of a mouthguard for the masks, which you can then knock off. And that's just with the set by itself. The motorized movement and attacks make it able to rampage through other sets as though said sets were bowling pins.

Muslim Duelists They're supposed to look like crabs, and get that point across well enough. And you, uh, might want to look at the Muaka and Kane-Ra (where the treads-for-legs thing is much more obvious). Or at the Tarakava.
