the orange piece in the center of the armor (behind Bohrok head plate) is supposed to go into the Toa's rear end (that's why the pelvic region of the toa is empty). It is an awkward design, but the instruction manual makes it clear.

My main problem with the Exo-Toa is that it's too damn small in my opinion for when the Toa are piloting them. I know they were designed for various reasons, guarding the Makuta's Destral Fortress, defend against a possible premature release of the Bohrok, or an army. Yet for when the Toa get inside them, I can't help but think it should be more like one of the Iron Man suits which in terms of a set would be ludicrously expensive but eh.

the orange thing on the inside goes into their "butt". it holds the toa in place better and i would suggest lowering the toa from the top and then pushing it back for more ease. you can also sort of get pohatu in there if i recall, but it's not as "natural". i never had onua so i can't say if that worked

A solution I had with Pohatu and Onua was to have them be standing on their tip toes. That lifts them up higher. Another solution would be to attach Onua's head to his arm gear rather than his chest. And Pohatu may need to have his body be turned around.

Pohatu has to be reassembled so his torso is thick-side up in order to be able to use the Exo-Toa Armor. Onua has to borrow a piece similar to Tahu's neck in order to use the Armor.

I remember one of my friends had this and he was convinced that only Tahu could use it because the orange meant it was fire. He was also convinced that meant there were other Exo Toa sets in different colours for each Toa. You could not tell him otherwise. I don't know why he was so insistent on that but he was.

I just picked one up from my local thrift store. All assembled, only two pieces missing. The silver bohrok shield from the head, and the projectile from the launcher. The latter of which I can replace with a piece from my own collection, but I'll have to search for the head piece.

The white pins are there because of how the head section attaches to the back, if the pin didnt stick out the top, it would be completely unremovable once put in place, which obviously isn't good for a construction toy.

I guess the inability to bend knees was just a common thing on Mata Nui. Anyway, this was a good review, if a little more negative than usual. But at least your cons were legitimate issues. The Exo-Toa looks really cool, but it is a bit unwieldy, it seems.

I guess you're right. It may not be as pointless due to the eyes, but to me it seems like just a weird color choice. I'm not sure why they choose orange over say grey. Maybe what people are saying is right and it is meant for Tahu, in that case I'd still list it as a con cause it then won't look as right for other Toa that lack orange. And before recording this I tried that and his feet just got in the way... I think I got a lemon Exo-Toa from the BoM. =P

I like the color scheme. Also I like the head makes it look evil. Considering getting one of these because it looks pretty much like a bad guy much better than the new wave of the new 2015 bionicle enemy skull stuff. Bulky and menacing and big. Just put an old toa in , put on a skull spider mask or any evil mask, heck it's borak arm face looks good enough. I would although make some modifications to make his legs have a bend.

Not sure if anyone has already said this, but the orange I think is supposed to match its "eyes" and/or fit the "mech color scheme" set in place by the Boxor. I wouldn't say it's as "pointless" as you make it out to be. Just my personal opinion. Also I'm pretty sure you slide the Toa in from the top. That's what I've always done...but then again my Exo-Toa has suffered some missing pieces in the course of its life, so yeah.

the orange piece in the middle of the exo suit has do be put in the "a-hole" of toa tahu. then you know he's in the right position. to make that easyer you need to insert tahu from above, not from the front. and take of the sword first. only pohatu doesn't fit.

I got it as a kid and I never really liked putting toas (nuvas, in my case, didn´t have the originals) inside, I treated it as a creature. Funny thing is, for me the Bohrok shield was always its head, making it appear more bulky and armoured, while the "head" worked like a laser turret of sorts.

Being someone who owns this set, I thought I'd clarify a few things to eljay and anyone else curious. :) First of all, if anyone was wondering the proper way to put toa into the set is (sounds kinda weird) to put the orange piece sticking out of the sets torso into the toa's butt. lol. Also, gali actually doesen't fit, her chest is too big.
