The Disc of Time also came out in some Vahki along with a gold Mask of Time, I believe. I got a brown vahki that came with the Disc of Time, can't remember if it came with the mask though.

i loved the designs on the disks, le metru's is the tube system, ta-metru's is a kanohi disk being launched i think, and ko metru's are either the ice towers or the collusiem tower thing

The toa canisters this year also had an advertised feature with the matoran! Two lids could come together to be a matoran sphere, could you ever get that feature to work? I remember I had to rotate the heads, I can't remember if they fit with their masks.

Metru Nui deffo added to the mystique of Bionicle. Little things like the last words of the Swarm Queens or the capsules the Toa arrived in kinda hinted at a greater depth to the world, but Metru Nui went full lost civilization/forgotten golden age. Techno-metropolis built over tunnels so deep that no one actually knows where they end really got to me. I also remember someone on BZpower cracking the disc code system like a week after release so you could redeem as many as you wanted.

2004 the first year I fully got into, as I became a BIONICLE fan in late 2003, and it's the most nostalgic as well. My favorite story ark, and my favorite sets overall. I never got a Kanoka pack in the day, but I found a sale of about 40 of them for less than $20, and I got 5 of the 6 Great Disks (as well as a few repeats of some of them - I think I have like 4 Le-Metru Great Disks). The disk of time came out in a 2005 part pack, not 2004. I got two of them, as well as two Vahi in one of those bins. I also got both with a Vahki, so I have 3 of each now :P I didn't notice any correlation between colors of the launchers and great disks, but I'll take your word on that. Have a nice break, and can't wait for that trainwreck of 2005 sets! The titans and the playsets were the only good things to come out of that year, set-wise.

Also the parts bins that Eljay mentioned DID contain Metru Gold Vahi's, along with the disc of time. I can personally vouch since I did get the bin, and it had two of each.

9:14 In case it wasn't said before, the Disk of Time and Mask of Time (in flat dark gold) released in some packs of Vahki later in 2004 (much like the Shadow Kraata editions of Rahkshi in late 2003). Those Vahki would contain only a Disk of Time, not a standard Kanoka (I know because I still have mine from back in the day). Luckily it was easy to find as the packaging would illustrate those inclusions.

1: No, that's wrong. They all have separate disk codes. 2: I dunno. Ease of access to codes when they debuted the Kanoka Club, I guess.

Nah. Eljay, the launcher is random. I ordered a kanoka pack 7 years ago and it came with a po disk, a le disk and a black launcher. The le disk I got from that pack is a level 9 too. I don't remember what the po disk was, because the day that the kanoka pack arrived, and I took'em out of the box, I left them on a chair and my puppy chewed up the po disk.

I agree: If I had to choose a favorite year for Bionicle sets, it probably would be 2004. Although, it wasn't until after 2005 that I realized how much I loved the function-ability of the Bionicle sets.

Oh, uh, the second digit on the Disk of Time, the one that signified power(not power level, just which power it had) would presumably speed up or slow down time in a given area of impact, according to BS01.\ Also, the Disk of Time, while made by a Ta-Metru native, was technically made in either Po or Ga-Metru, depending on which point in their journey Vakama merged all 6 disks.

Man, collecting exclusive bionicle parts in the US must have been horrible back in the day. In sweden, we got all those exclusive parts just from buying the comic book, like the infected tahu mask, kanohi of time and disk Also, metru nui toa has less posability in the shoulders than even toa mata. Rakshi build > metru toa build, sue me..

For the most part, I actually like the new shades of colors that 2004 introduced...however, the new brown looks really dull and bleh, which is a shame. That probably made the brown sets even less desirable to the average kid.

Build system was much better than in previous years, but color scheme was simply bad. I could swallow the darkening of all primary colours, but why replace black with fark grey? It made those sets appear dull. Toa Inika changed it with light grey, but then we were back to dark grey in 2007. Remember people, black goes with everything.

Nokama(set) would've been much better if her axes had solid handles like in the second movie. Flimsy string-like handles made them seem fragile and that's kinda bad for a weapon.
