Ahhh 2006... The 'Rubber' Year The year as a whole was fantastic! Introducing the new and soon to be infamous 'Inika Build', good(non clunky' titans, the toa team that would stick with me forever, amazing storyline and so on, so forth :) If I had to rate each year, it'd be something like this: 2001: Technic Year (4/5) 2002: Toa-less Year (3/5) 2003: Silver Explosion Year (3/5) 2004: Sequel-Prequel Year (5/5) 2005: Monster Party Year (4/5) 2006: Rubber Year (4/5) 2007: Ocean Year (5/5) 2008: Flying Woot (4/5) 2009: Warriors (4/5) 2010: Disappointment (3/5) [Only Passes because Bionicle

Call me insane but I like the star sets, there sockets are shit, there builds are basic, copy and paste, and just generally bad, but the charm of the series is what gets to me seeing some of the best past sets brought back for one last year that wasn't even supposed to exist, too me there one of my favorite years for that reason alone, it will never be better than 2006 and 2008 but it still has a big place in my heart.

I was laughing so hard at that opening. Most of your review skits have been funny, but this was on a whole other level, being one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Part of it is from just how long the flushing sound goes on for.

2006 was the year I got into Bionicle, and what a year it was. Little did I know I got into it the year the series made a huge change, going from technic-like figures to posable action figures, getting rid of the gear functions the seriee started with. While I don't mind the Piraka and Inika builds being reused a lot in Bionicle's later years, I was disappointed on how the weapons turned out. Not to mention, I was not into the silver parts they had. Regardless, I still love the 2006 line, despite some issues, like the reusing of the Piraka and Inika builds, and the disappointing weapons that would later hurt the line.

I love the Toa Mahri! They so much detail! With the tubes and stuff! I also LOVE the underwater setting with the dark and spooky Barraki!

One of the best parts about the Mahri was that each of them was very different. You had Hahli who had wings, Jaller who had his crab, Hewkii who had chains, Kongu who had two blasters and a shorter build, Nuparu who had a 'backpack', and Matoro who had different usages of the black Mahri tubes. And the Barraki were just as neat, as they were unique and stood out from other canister waves that we've gotten. Plus, we got Maxilos & Spinax and Hydraxon, and they looked awesome on so many levels. There was also Lesovikk who came with a nifty speeder, Karzahni, which came with two Matoran and a trap, and Gadunka, who has arguably one of the most unique titan builds ever. There were also the Mahri Nui Matoran, and although there were few of them, had a very solid build compared to other small sized sets. And the Hydruka, which were a very creative concept. 2007 was probably my favorite Bionicle year. I have a lot of fond childhood memories of that.

Not so much the sets themselves but it seems that after 2006, Lego became lazy in reusing the build with not much further innovation.

Hi Eljay, I have a quick question about the Triple Combiners. If one were to buy one of the triple combiners (maybe Ultimate Dume as an example) and it was in a new, complete and perfect condition, would one be able to build all three of the sets used for the combiner in their complete states (i.e. Krekka, Nidhiki, Dume and Nivawk) from the pieces that they got in the Triple Combiner? Or would one need to buy the other parts from elsewhere? This may sound like a bit of a stupid question but I just wanted to make sure. I found a really cheap, good condition Ultimate Dume on ebay and I am contemplating on whether or not I should buy it because I want to complete my Metru Nui collection (2004 was my favourite year) and use Ultimate Dume to get the three titans that I am missing. Also, the reviews are amazing and I am looking forward to your 2007 videos. Thank you.

This year was such a breath of fresh air! Featuring stylistically unique villains, revolutionarily super-articulated builds, the best launchers in the franchise's history (In my opinion) and some extremely memorable Titans. Another plus is that the year finally gave us a fairly solid Bionicle game in the form of Bionicle Heroes by Traveller's Tales in spite of it dropping the ball on the story beyond collectable trinkets and the good variety of sets featured throughout as enemies.

I love this series! Get to see all the Bionicles I had and wanted again. Are you gonna put the Phantoka and Mistika together since that's basically 2 different kind but one series? They were same year so gotta. After that was Glatorian then Glatorian Legends then Bionicle Stars in 2010. Next up is Toa Mahri and Barraki (which the Barraki is the first full set I actually ever collected and had at one time), they were weird but really cool and colorful and even fun to build! Oh, cool Cannisters as well.

"Ignition" was only the story of the Jaller's team, the Inika and the Mahri. The 2008 comics had their own title, the "Battle for Power".

Question for Q&A 6; Do you consider the Toa Mahri clone sets? I actually find them quite unique and think that they aren't really clones. Sure, they have almost the exact same build *cough cough* Inika build. *cough cough,* but they still have very unique personalities. I can tell all of them apart from one another. Especially Kongu. DUAL CORDAK BLASTERS. SO COOL.

Does anyone know why 2007 had only four Matoran/Matoran-sized sets as opposed to six like every other year? I've always found that quite peculiar, especially since that there are actually enough Matoran in the story to have six sets if you still have the two Hydruka (Kyrehx and Gar, though if they were to keep their respective elements then one Hydruka would have to be white). Then again three Hydruka would balance out more with the Matoran. Meh, I'm overthinking this. :P

I do miss the more vibrant colors of the older years, but I think it was great over all. I always loved the builds and the designs. I just like to pretend the piraka rap doesn't exist

Did the toa nuva loose because they were reckless and overconfident in their great power, and then the toa inika won because they learned from the toa nuvas mistakes and used brains over brawns, or was the toa nuva actually weaker than the piraka, and the toa inika, who were matoran just literal seconds ago and had no experience using toa-powers, were actually straight up stronger than the toa nuva?

I'd just like to throw this out: The Inika build (which I myself personally like, it's a bit more like a posable action figure than the previous sets) being reused for the Toa Mahri shouldn't be considered a con. Why? It's the same Toa Team. They may have new armor, but they are still the same heroes. I doubt that would stop anyone, especially since the builds were used in the Nuva's return in 2008 and such. But I wanted to say that to spare the Mahri some crap they don't deserve, especially since over the years I've come to appreciate them quite a bit.
