idk it never really was a diss track. in an earlier interview charli kinda said the only actual "diss" on the album was von dutch. if anything, girl so confusing is more charli opening up to lorde because she felt like there was a disconnect between them and wanted to resolve it.

I’ve been a fan of both since their debuts but very casually so I was never aware of any “beef” but this still felt so cathartic to listen to. Lorde’s lyrics were so personal yet so relatable about how difficult it can be to maintain healthy relationships with other women when the patriarchy incentivizes you to constantly be in competition, and how your own insecurities can damage potentially good friendships.

I love that we've been begging these two to collab while they edge us for years, and all it took is for one of them to release a song about her frustration with the other and why they haven't collabed, for them to finally do it. It's so fucking meta. And then Marina and Charli started twitting back and forth.... what a time for pop culture! Lorde is beyond perfect in the remix, her verse is so raw and fitting to the whole vibe, the last pre chorus with both of them is heavenly, and I love her voice so much with all this autotune and modification, she really owned it. I hope she works with some of Charli's producers next, especially if she returns to darker synthpop.
