To my mind Jim Shepherd was, is and will be the best Cornet Player I've ever heard - even better that the real greats like Jack Macintosh (?) and Harry Mortimer - I stress that this is my opinion gleaned from my time in the Solo Cornet rank of the NSW Fire Brigade Band
