Thank you for the tips! My first commissioner "accidentally" let his dog get a hold of it... He tried to recommission me but I refused... It seemed like a knife did the damage to it not a dog. I just wasn't comfortable making any other suits for him. Does that make me a bad maker?
@mayothecat24117 жыл бұрын
FluffyGamerStudios Workshop not at all, in my personal opinion, if a dog did it to his fursuit, it would have happened to his other belongings, which means that he would have known that the damage would be made to anything he would just lay around. Tbh it sounds sketchy to me. If he can't put it where the dog can't reach, he could have put the suit in a box or a storage container

FluffyGamerStudios Workshop That sucks. I would’ve been so upset if I saw my hard work torn up and destroyed.
@demonawolf36477 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't. Once a suit is sent to someone, it is that person's responsibility. To be honest he probably did it on purpose hoping to get money back or something. If it was accidental then it shows he isn't responsible enough for a fursuit. He could have put it in a thick plastic container where a dog couldn't get to. It is unfortunate though and I'm so sorry to hear that happened..

Great advice! The breathing part is probably one of the most important things you need to get right. Vision too, but not to as much of a degree. If you can breath reasonably it’s great, helps a lot. That and quality checking. Putting out such a large chunk of money only to have your fursuit fall apart quickly is not something anybody wants.

I can agree on all of those, I already made one suit and I am working on a second as of now. During my first one I learned a lot of things that I am applying to my second . Symmetry is one hell of a demon but I am getting there, and I think I did way better now than with my first one. I wouldnt usually judge it too much in a maker, since nature can have flaws and its not fully symmetrical as well ^.^'

I've never actually attempted making a suit, but I have always been curious--How do makers build a foam base to the correct head circumference? I can understand if it were a personal suit, since the person could try it on and adjust from there, but if someone were to commission a maker and give their head circumference, how does the maker build the head from scratch to fit said size?
@zacharywood94166 жыл бұрын
ash8282 May not be the universal way but from what I’ve seen the maker takes the customers measurements and when cutting the foam for the head, adds a few inches or so to account for the thickness. Even if it’s too big for them, glueing the fur down can help make it a bit tighter. If that’s still too loose they can wear a balaclava underneath to bulk it up in there. Always better to be a bit bigger than smaller.

I have a question... I'm wanting to do a suit for a character that usually has a closed mouth. Should I try to make it a movable jaw so I can open the mouth to cool off? I'm going to make Lucario (Pokemon/SSB) for a costume contest in 2020, and he almost always has a closed mouth, so I'm trying to figure out some ideas. I've only made a head once which had a moving beak just by using my chin, which I probably could do for my platypus fursona, but Lucario is a challenge I'd love to take on. I know I'll be trying to do the bodysuit in multiple pieces, like pants, shirt, sleeves, etc so I can have a bit more mobility and be easier to get on an off, but the head is going to be hard.
