Daniela Bučeková Well, in the book, ogres have a kind of magical ability to put people into a hypnotic trance with their voices. Ella also happens to be very skilled with languages and knows how to speak Ogrese pretty well. So when she gets captured by ogres, she comes up with the idea to talk to them in Ogrese and try to imitate their voices and put them to sleep. Amazingly, it actually works (possibly because Ella has a little fairy blood in her). She puts them all to sleep, but she still can't run away because they told her not to. So while she's stuck there trying to figure out a way out of that predicament, Char just happens to show up with all his knights, sees Ella there surrounded by a pile of sleeping ogres, and is all like, "Wow, I thought you needed help, but apparently you had this handled!" And somewhere in the following scene, while Char gushes over how awesome she is, someone gives her a command that counteracts the ogre's order, so she's free to go. :-)
