Balambaras (Chief of a Hamlet) is an imaginative song about romance involving Kasa (the future Emperor Tewodros) and Tewabech (his future queen consort). Madly in love with her Tewodros yearns to see Tewabech, to make her his queen, to give up his throne for her if need be. He wondered why his might and resolve fail him in her presence. He concludes that the quest for love is harder than the quest for power. Kudos for the lyricist Habtemariam Mengistie, the composer Elias Gizachew, the arranger Mikael Hailu and for the passionate and powerful singing of Jacky Gosee! The synergy of these talented artists is magical. One cannot listen to this song without performing iskista or raving mad!
