Romanian "mersi" is the french "merci". The accent is on "i", like "mer-sí". In english, you have the word "mercy" which it means something else ( forgiveness, etc ) but it is pronounced with the accent on "e" like "mér-cy". So the accent of the romanian "mersi" ( thank you ) is different ( it is on "i" ).
@m0t0b33
@m0t0b33 3 жыл бұрын
I know, right...? When she says "merci", the way she pronounces it makes her sound like Uncle Jesse from Full House "haaave mercy" :D P.S. We Romanians spell it with a S and pronounce it like in French, but in French, it's spelled with a C, as in "merci".
@mikel4879

Regarding the bread thing: most of the flour in romania has a number on it, and you simply have to know the type. 000 is made for soft things like doughnuts or pancakes, 550 and 650 are good for breads and pizzas because they have high protein content.
@anaienascu9697
@anaienascu9697 3 жыл бұрын
In theory, but actually, they all have about the same gluten content - even 000 is usually at 10-12 grams of protein or so. But mostly, it's just a matter of how processed the flour is and whether or not it's bleached. Also, 550 flour is pastry flour, not particularly rich in gluten, but more so than 450. Your safest bet for yeasted doughs is 650. The one from mega image is fine.

10:02 WOOOW! Amazing! I just moved to UK one year ago, as you switched the country with Romania one year ago, and about the fact with the coffee or tea, for me happened the same. Since I am in UK I have moments when I make a tea almost daily, and in Romania I didn't have this habit. One cup of tea in few months. And about the coffee, I drunk few mugs per week in Romania, now in UK, 1 or 2 daily. It's amazing how the climate changed our habits. This is the most "British influence" I gained until now. Until coming here I didn't have the patience to prepare a cup of tea. 😅 And Congrats for the channel. I really like it. Sometimes I follow you to watch what new habit you gain or lost, just to check on myself to see if I still have the habit. 😅 Thank you and keep up the good work. ;)

On the countryside is another level of security were poor people could target houses as there is no security cameras, but you know i have 1000mbps connection in countryside and camers which record the streets in all 4 points of the village i live, is like no thief or accident to escape from video cameras day/night. Romanians use sarcastic speach quite often too , cynical couldn't say. People here wouldn't swear on street randomly( maybe when they drive but not as much as you think) . We use to swear with some irony, but not necesary people, like objects when is something which requires much patience like using a needle and thread. We use wtf more often to cases which are weird/annoying. Most people wouldn't that much feel free to swear among others.

As luck would have it, I finally discovered a particular sauce that the store only had in stock about 3 months out of the year because it came from Italy. It is so good for pasta. Last time I had guests, they told another it was like eating at a fine restaurant. Guess it passed the taste test. :) Like you, I referred to google quite a bit.

If you can buy bulk doesn't mean you should buy one piece at a time. Red peppers and onions can be stored in the fridge, even if you use them just for salads. Better than having to buy them every day. flour here isn't as divided as in the west and when it is, it usually is for local baked goods (and even then there's like only 3 types max variations of white flour) i suggest looking up what exactly is in that specific flour that makes it the best candidate for said recipe (ex: maybe it's because of the amount of protein/gluten in it, so it makes it suitable for different types of dough) regardless if you're ever looking for a bread flour i suggest going with the ones that say "cozonac" somewhere on the packaging, since they should produce the desirable texture & outcome !!

may, You don't know but you think you know. look here: - 000 Flour type, "pastry flour" is a very fine flour, with a silky, refined texture, with a low protein content, of about 7-9%. It is used for desserts. - 650 Flour type, "bread flour" is flour obtained from durum wheat, has a concentration of about 12-14% gluten and the highest protein content. It is used for bread, pizza. - 550 Flour type, "all-purpose flour" is flour obtained from a mixture of soft wheat and durum wheat, with a content of 9-12% gluten. - Wholemeal flour, "Graham" is the richest in nutritional principles. It is obtained by grinding the whole grain of wheat, it has many fibers, proteins, vitamins, minerals. It is bread flour in combination with white flour. - Rye flour has a low gluten content. It is a flavored flour, darker in color, it can be used to prepare bread but also pancakes or muffins. - Corn flour, "mălai" used for polenta and some desserts. - Rice flour, semolina, etc. Some exotic types of flour can be found at "plafar" and health food stores.

Just for you (maybe it helps) - the word for that "bread flour" in romanian is "făină" & you can find in most of the shops that sell food products. If it tells " făină 00" then that's the flour you can use for cookies too. you can buy also flour which is not "00"; that's also OK, but is not as "pure" as the "00" version. You can buy whatever brand you like as long as it tells "făină" ... it should always be the same thing. Is made from grain mainly, but can be also some mixture of other types on grains. "mălai" is corn flour. I hope it helps you in future.

Tap water in Romania is also drinkable, there is no problem with that... depends of the city and of the care of water distribution company to maintain the public city water pipes clean, in Galati (you been here) the water don't have any problems is drinkable directly from the tap... I think in Constanta also there are no problems with the quality of the water, maybe in your specific area where you live there was something wrong. There are some houses that extract their own water from the ground, maybe they have problems with the quality of that, but it's not a rule as is in Turkey / Istanbul.

Regarding the restaurants where you enter directly and take a table, it depends on the restaurant, if the restaurant is more fancy, then you wait to be seated, if the restaurant is a fast-food type, or not so fancy... then you just take a table and that is it, you wait for a menu card. And you are based in Constanța, in Bucharest for example, more restaurants are starting to seat you, maybe because of this COVID period.

If you want to make a good curry you need to hit 3 shops to get the ingredients. Post offices- plan for half a day. Queue jumpers.... Get ready to have a public face off. Manners- This is varied Love Vama Veche. You can put up a tent, wake up in the morning and stroll into the water naked. Fell in love with Romania 9 years ago and no intentions of leaving. You can also get bread dough from some bread market. We also have frozen dough in the market that can be used for pizza or pastry. We have flour for pasta but you don't get that in large amounts in the supermarket since we don't make pasta at home Romanians prefer to by already made pasta. Usually pasta flour doesn't grow in the oven even if you add yeast but you can still use it if you mixt it with 000 bread flour or mixt it with egg and make noodles dry them and add them to soup or eat as pasta.
