Ellen White: the Surprising Truth about the Writings of Ellen White according to Pastor Ted Wilson

Ellen White is the most translated American author of all time as well as the most translated non-fiction female writer in history. But who was #EllenWhite?

Seventh-day #Adventists believe that Mrs. White was more than a gifted writer; we believe she was appointed by #God as a special messenger to draw the world's attention to the Holy Scriptures and help prepare people for Christ's second advent. From the time she was 17 years old until she died 70 years later, God gave her approximately 2,000 #visions and dreams. The visions varied in length from less than a minute to nearly four hours. The knowledge and counsel received through these revelations she wrote out to be shared with others. Thus, her special writings are accepted by Seventh-day Adventists as inspired, and their exceptional quality is recognized even by casual readers.
However, as stated in the book, Seventh-day Adventists Believe . . . , “The writings of Ellen White are not a substitute for Scripture. They cannot be placed on the same level. The Holy Scriptures stand alone, the unique standard by which her and all other writings must be judged and to which they must be subject” (p. 227).
Ellen G. White was truly a remarkable woman who, meeting all the tests of a true #prophet as set forth in the Holy Scriptures, helped found the Seventh-day Adventist #church. And through the counsels given through this special messenger, God has blessed us immensely.

I have a similar story with my great-grandfather. Zimri Moon and his family had a farm in Minnesota. The Adventists rented the farm to hold a campmeeting. It rained all week. Then on Sunday, the sun came out. A little lady went to the farm house and asked if the Quaker family would be offended if they put their laundry out to dry. That simple courtesy piqued the interest of the Moon Family. They started attending the meetings and were baptized. That little lady was Ellen White. Zimri's brother became a minister and was mentioned several times in Mrs. White's writings as 'Brother Moon'. I have the same emotional thoughts as you describe to think that God lead the Adventist to their farm and Mrs. White to talk to them.

Not to create an argument but if the Lord's messenger said that our schools should not be acredited , why did we disregard this important warning? How do you get from 457 BC in the spring of the year. To the fall of the year of 1844. October 22nd. It's impossible! Your true prophet says that is the true date.. Jesus said a true prophet never lies!

@@JamieElison no 0 year. It goes 1 BC and next is 1 AD But, it was William Miller’s timeline and he was Baptist, not SDA. The SDA church was not formed until 1863. The 1844 movement was called the Millerite Movement. Ellen White was 17 years old in 1844 and was a Methodist, not SDA. The prophecy about the date wrong at first seemed the date was tarrying, but then they waited and figured out the right date when they realized no 0 year. Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry Verse 2 is the instruction to write the chart out, thus why Miller made the chart. 2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

It would be impossible to get to the (fall of 1844). that then teaches the LIE of a Jesus that does not save! That destroys the Jesus of Hebrews 7. But do compliment her and keep her there. I thank God for Ellen White and the work she did. If it wasn't for her, I would have thrown the Bible out a long time ago as a work of fiction. But reading her comments and explanations, I was able to see how the Bible is a coheasive work of divine wisdom. I suspect that those who speak against her, have not read much of her writings. Maybe a little here and there, but not much and not in context. I will admit that I had my doubts for a while.....until I saw a series of lectures by pastor Stephen Bohr on Ellen White....that really opened my eyes to how her inspiration worked and how she passes EVERY biblical test of a true prophet. Whenever I come across something in the Bible that I don't understand, the first thing I do now is to go to see what Ellen White has to say on the subject. That usually clears things up straight away. She usually shows other bible verses on the subject that sheds more light that would take me, possibly a lifetime of searching to find on my own. Her knowledge of the Bible is absolutely amazing. If she is a false teacher as some claim, then why did her writings bring me back to the Bible and continue as a Christian? "You will know them by their fruits" Matt 7:16. I don't know of anyone who has read her writings (regularly and consistently), and then said, "Naww....I don't want to be a Christian"...in fact, just the opposite.

i grew up SDA, and i figured my pastor and famliy couldn't possibly be wrong. however once i started actually testing her as a prophet. she doesn't even come close to passing. she has a bunch of prophecy that never came true. and everyone just looks the other way. she communicated with the dead. and said it was from God. i am currently leaving the church. God is Good and i am very thankful that God should me this before it was to late.

A challenge here. Ellen White never tested the spirit of her guiding angel as we are commanded to do. 1John 4:1 "My dear friends, do not believe all who claim to have the Spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere." Question: Are you willing to Test your own prophet? If so check out the series "Test the Prophet" here on KZbin. And after all, if there is no fault to be found in her then this should be a welcome challenge. And if you are don't think you can handle it, please ask yourself why. Again, we are commanded to test all things.

I am an evangelical who is learning about the Seventh-day Adventist church only now. I am exploring, but I feel confindent that this man is sincere, and the Christians who live this are sincere as far as I am seeing. They actually live what they preach, and they FEEL empathy, compassion, and LOVE. They demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit. This is enough to get my attention, since this year, in 2020 I am seeing so much selfishness and hypocrisy in the American Evangelical Christian Church, which has truly broken my heart, and I believe has broken the heart of Jesus. At a young age, God led me to her writings and from that time my life has changed.She really encourages us to read the word of God(bible) daily and what amazes me is that she always refers to the Bible in her writings. White that is hidden from ordinary church members.

I'm a bricklayer and we were asked to work on the coming Sat. Every one said sure but one man, I was new at the company, so they informed me that he is 7th day Adventist, and they don't work on the Sabbath. I had never considered the subject and was deeply troubled by the possible implications. So that evening I prayed and asked for help with this issue. That prayer was answered with a series of dreams in which I was shown much more than I thought I had asked about. I was shown Adventism represented as a house that the builders stopped working on before the house was completed. The doors and windows and such were never installed. It was made implicitly clear to me that the house afforded no protection! Beloved I was shown the Adventists did not follow "further light" as Sister White warned that they must do. The call to "Come out of Babylon" now ironically applies to Adventists as well. Steeples, Feast Days, Pagan Holy Days, No Baptism in the Holy Spirit, No Restoration of the Names. The "Seven Thunders" are sounding, but only INDIViDUALS can hear.

CBDYNA, I hope you aren't being influenced by "Shelly Stone", who is as biased and untruthful as one can probably get about Sister White! Here's one response I made to her false allegations : "You are taking her writings out of context and applying your OWN ideas and interpretations to them. People should be encouraged to find out for themselves directly from her writings, which are easily found even online. The Great Controversy was finalised in 1911 and that is the one people need to read regarding prophecies fulfilling today. After that, yes, people with an agenda to change our teachings entered the GC church, as they've done with ALL denominations. This is part of the 'Great Reset'/NWO agenda - but her original writings are totally correct and trustworthy. I personally resent your dishonest and biased attempts to make out Ellen White's writings are in any way incorrect or untruthful. It's so easy, isn't it, to just say she 'was a false prophet' but you have NO evidence - just biased arguments. Hardly scholarly research!

The one problem I do have with SDA (And I love Walter Veith) is that he says USA is the second beast of Revelation 13. Hear me out here, ok?............Revelation 13:11 starts the description of the Earth Beast and the concluding verse Rev 13:18 states clearly its the pope(s), so I disagree with him and SDA in general that USA is the Earth Beast. Daniel tells us Rome is the last ruling Kingdom too, so, again, SDA are wrong here. And it is confusing too since SDA are the only ones really calling out the False Profit / Antichrist. So besides that major error, I think SDA are about as close to the word as you can get. And agree, theres corruption in every Religion, its why I came out of her as instructed in the first place and do not attend any Church today.

No the Bible does not tell us that we sleep it doesn’t say anything about sleeping until Jesus returns when the Bible uses the term falling asleep that just simply means dead your body is dead so where is your spirit well ecclesiastics tells you that the breath goes back to God who gave it but your spirit does not need to breathe so where does your spirit go well in the Bible in the Old Testament and what the Jewish people believed and still believe is that the spirit went to Abraham‘s bosom a holding place for spirits in the Old Testament. Now after Jesus came and died and he descended and set the captives free in first Peter 318 through 21 it clearly says that Jesus went and preach to the spirits SPIRITS in prison these are not people these are spirits who are in Abraham’s bosom and he took them to heaven with him There is no more Abraham’s bosom a holding place for spirits that’s where the Catholic Church twisted that and they’ve got the term Purgatory Catholics are not Christians and Christians are not Catholics Christians believe that Jesus emptied out Abrahams bosom and through his blood and his salvation now when we die we go directly our spirit as a living spirit goes to Jesus and God we do not sleep However the Bible does teach that there are people spirits that sleep they sleep? To sleep means death in the Bible in the Old Testament and death to the Jews meant separation from God so when a person dies now if they sleep that means they are unsaved and separated from God in the Bible teaches that that spirit is in hell for all eternity

I’m going to try to explain this to you biblically and in accordance with Jewish beliefs which is who the old testament was written for The word sheol is used in the Old Testament It has 2Hebrew meanings the grave and Abraham’s bosom…a holding place for spirits depending on the context of how it was used example Jacob said I will go down to Sheol to See my son when he thought Joseph was dead……? Why would Jacob believe that he would see his son when he went simply to the grave? he didn’t he believed he was going to Sheol a holding place for the good spirits…..It doesnt what your church taught you-what the Jewish people believed is what Jesus And the apostles in the early church believed and Christian’s today book of Daniel when the prophecies given to Daniel when those who sleep in dust will live they will arise some to everlasting eternity and some to contempt and some to everlasting punishment….3 things had to happen, eternity, punishment, contempt Has this prophecy already fulfilled yes Christians believe this was fulfilled. First Hebrew meaning of sleep? To be separated from God. Not to physically sleep Eternity: when the Messiah came died he descended he took the spirits out of prison to heaven out of Abrahams person as stated in first Peter 318 through 21 Contempt: the Bible clearly tells you that there were 500 dead people who rose out of the graves in Jerusalem and walked back into Jerusalem to the city these people were resurrected why? Mary says Lord my brother would not have died if you had been here…..Jesus says your brother will live again…..Mary says yay Lord I know he will live in the Resurrection…..Jesus says Mary IAM the resurrection…(present use not future) those who believe in me will never die they will be passed from death to life This means you do not sleep and wait to be resurrected this means that you are resurrected at death. Thessalonians 416 --read also read the few verses just above that where it clearly states that when Jesus comes for his church those who are alive he Will bring those who have died already with him. As a seven stamping test that should be very confusing to you why would he bring those who have already died with him when he comes to get those who are alive? This is what we call the rapture which the first century church believed in. Jesus appears in clouds Brings spirits of those who died already Raises their dead bodies (reunites spirit/body) changes to glorified bodies Then catches up those alive also changing their bodies glorified like his No where in this verse doesn’t say Jesus’s feet touch the ground nor does it tell you that the people that are taken up alive are on this earth so where are they? This is what Christians believe we are in heaven for the seven years during the tribulation having the marriage supper of the Lamb with Jesus we believe the book of revelation is in perfect chronological order and then in chapter 19 where it says Jesus returns to the earth with his army dressed in white linen hey that’s the church who just received their white linen in the verses above at the marriage supper we were term with Jesus and he sets up his millennial physical kingdom on this earth for 1000 years Christians believe again very different doctrine then what Ellen White taught Mohammed taught Charles is Russell from Jehovah witnesses and Joseph Smith for Mormons.

The apostle Paul tells us that in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. And Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream had the stone without hands destroying the entire statue. That stone was representative of the Lord's power to do this without man's initiative. Your faith in God's power through prophets is admirable, but that power did not happen through Ellen White, but through a prophet called and ordained to act in God's name. Why do you think power comes without authority? Ellen White had no priesthood. She didn't have any witnesses other than herself. I've read Ellen White's visions and I find them superfluous, very much like a fabricated near death experience someone hopes to make money from. For example, Jesus swinging open the pearly gates with his mighty arm! None of what she saw in THE GREAT CONTROVERSY was very impressive. I looked for depth as it pertained in the battle of Armageddon, and only found the finger pointed at the Papacy, the favorite whipping boy of the protestant movement. Instead, Ezekiel points his finger at the Muslims (Ezekiel 38:5-6,38-39; Zechariah 12-14). The Papacy has no military might, but the Muslims do. I compared Mrs. White's visions to Joseph Smith's revelations and found the latter to be much more sophisticated and impressive. In fact, I've read most everything he and later prophets of his day wrote. You can choose as you wish, but if you check out D&C 45, 76 and 121, I'd like to see anything Mrs.White said to be anything nearly as impressive.

I am asking God for guidance on this one. I was raised sda. Saturday is Sabbath. Jesus is coming very soon, but I need to know if I can trust the work of EGW before I can read her books. I read the Great Controversy and I see nothing wrong with it. I feel like it lines up with both history and the Bible. The Bible is enough without EGW's writings. I know this to be true, however, if she really was a prophet of God, I do not want to foolishly dismiss her.

Yes, what he says about Ellen White is so true, but sad to say, he as a leader, like most of the them, have not spoken or taught the DEEP THINGS to the church. That is why after the 90's there has been a hush in the church preaching about boldly preach the Three Angels Messages. They will speak about the first angel's message, but the second and third has been watered down. I've even read in one adventist magazine, The Spectrum magazine of a so call Dr. preacher who expressed why the catholic should not be seen as the Antichrist, and not to view sunday as the mark of the Antichrist etc... because he says that this was the mind set of the people in the time of Ellen White, now, can you imagine saying something like that in a adventist magazine and people like Ted Wilson and or others never rebuked them for doing so. One thing I can say for sure, the Jesuits have infiltrated the church and are mixing water and toxic substances to seduce others to view truth differently than what it truly is. Wolves in sheep's clothing indeed, so watch out, test all things, everything. There were other lies in the Spectrum magazine that I will not share here and now. So now you know, do not support magazines that spread lies mixed with truth. Very deceptive indeed.

The church, our circle of friends, is no different than the circle of friends during the time of Christ. Jesus preached a message of love with open arms. This attracted all kinds. Even Judas. Jesus didn't kick Judas out of the circle though. He did point out to Judas, in a loving manner, the error of his ways, but Jesus didn't let this stop him from healing the sick and reaching out to the people in need. Showing kindness and telling his stories. He never closed his arms. They always remained open. Even when he knew that the person he was embracing would defy Him in the end.

the BIBLE says the holy spirit reveals the truth through prophets. Amos 3:7 says "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets". A great deal of the OT was written by prophets who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2Pet 1:19-21 Talks about having a sure word of prophecy and that prophecy came not by the will of man but of holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Rev 19:10 says the Testimony of Jesus in the spirit of Prophesy. Act 2:17 says "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Please also remember that even in biblical time there were women who were prophets: Miriam Ex15:20, Deborah Jg 4:4, Isaiahs wife Isa 8:3, Philips 4 daughters Acts 21:9.....Prophecy, as well as preaching and teaching is listed as a gift of the Spirit. Not something only the Spirit can do. You can have all the opinions you like, however the scripture should be your guide and the scripture is very clear that the GIFT of prophecy is given to Gods people.

There are good things The Adventist church has to offer the world. Just have 2 main issues with their teachings: 1 -EGW as infallible interpreter of the scriptures and prophet. 2 - the 2,300 years 1844 (investigative judgment) doctrine. The Roman church has apologized for the atrocities and bigotry of the past yet the Adventist church has never claimed it has errored. Desmond Ford was defrocked of his position because he had a different point of view of Daniel8:14 and Hebrews 9 (Glacier View 1980)

@@ajaunhoustonsparents6247 Read Eccl. 12:14, 2 Cor. 5:10, and then read Rom. 4:25 which said "Christ was offered to die for our sins, and He rose to make us Right with God"-and that "make us right with God" is Perfectly set forth in biblical view of Christ's high priestly ministry for us in the heavenly sanctuary , in which the investigative judgement plays a Major part when the High Priest goes into the Most Holy Place in the Day of Atonement, as Paul clarified that all the types and services of the earthly sanctuary were but shadows and symbols of what Christ (as our Great High Priest) is doing for us in the heavenly sanctuary.... Now, Read Daniel 7 as to what happens in the investigative judgement, and Daniel 8:14 as to When that judgement starts ....thus, You Sir, are Openly Contradicting the bible and blatantly maligning God's Prophet/Messenger whom He sent to clarify these Very truths of the bible to His people! Don't let this sin stand against you in the judgement, because make no mistake, your name will be brought up in that judgement and if you are deliberately holding onto this sin, you will be held accountable...

I'm a former Adventist minister. E.G. White lifted a lot from the writers of her time without giving them credit. I investigated her sources since I was a student at an Adventist university until I became a pastor and came to the conclusion that she paraphrased other people's writings and made them her own! When Drs. Desmond Ford and Walter Rae confronted the church about it in 1980, they were defrocked and demonized. Now the church says the plagiarism was done by her editorial assistants! The denomination believes EGW is the end-time prophet whose theological concepts should not be scrutinized biblically. Many Adventists believe EG White is the latter-day prophet whose work should not be subjected to the Bible scrutiny. That is why Adventists regard themselves as a remnant and all other Christian denominations are apostates! Read Desire of Ages and Great Controversy, for instance, and compare them side by side with their sources and you will be shocked! I was shocked by how much she copied from the past and her contemporary writers!! Adventists, why do you allow your church leadership to mislead you?

Australia - Jorge Munoz and Graham Christian from the AUC and Vic conference - failed to respond to my question “does EGW still speak to us with an authoritative voice?” I could only conclude they don’t believe that she does. So if the leaders such as presidents don’t follow EGW’s counsel, it is no surprise that pastors don’t either.

Interesting statement. There were prophets in the bible. The BIBLE says, they were inspired of God. The BIBLE also says that one of the gifts of the Spirit given to man is the gift of Prophecy as well as teaching and preaching. The BIBLE says that in the end times your sons and daughters will prophesy and you old men will dream dreams...... Rev 19:10 says the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy and Rev 12:17 Says The dragon (satan) was wroth with the woman (church) and went to make war with the remnant of her seed who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony (spirit of prophecy) of Jesus...

Im still trying to figure out why a Sunday Law is a big deal to be honest. I come from a blue law state and all Sunday Laws do is prevent people from shopping on Sunday. So until they try to force people to WORSHIP on Sunday, or force people to actually work on Saturday as was done in Egypt and Rome, Im not getting too caught up in all of this. Same way Im not getting caught up in the vaccine in the MOTB stuff. I was forced to take jabs in the 70's to go to school and also forced to take jabs in 2008, so under that scenario, who in the USA hasnt already taken The Mark.
