i can’t tell you how much i appreciate this video. your way of explaining it was just perfect- i’ve watched dozens of videos showing intarsia crochet but still didn’t fully understand what i was meant to do when flipping the work, and now i finally get it. thank you so much!!!

Wow! Thank you. Trying a hat with vertical stripes and googling "stretch" with crochet did not give me anything on how to maintain give in a hat while carrying yarn... until I found your video. THANK YOU for this very clear and easy to follow explanation and example.

Good morning, Ellen! Thanks for the great tutorial! And thanks for explaining the different color techniques. I have avoided intarsia crochet because it didn't look like fun, but now I'm inspired to give it a try! Hello from Brat to Theo, Hobi, and Minnie! 😻👍💖

Beautiful! I usually crochet in my lap, but for this technique I'll set up a card table to hold all those bobbins. Definitely an at home rather than an on the road technique. Thank you for your clearly demonstrated explanations and helpful hints!

I subscribed to your channel and gave you a thumbs up. This morning I purchased a pattern and I read through Part of the instructions. It said it was intarsia so I looked for a video. I Loved your explanation of the concept. Now am excited to start pattern I purchased. Thank you! Donna

Thanks for this tutorial ...Just for clarity, I hv watched videos where "yarning under" has been used to change colors instead of "yarning over"...Is there really any difference?
@cassandrarudolph13073 жыл бұрын
So I can do the this for my blankets and both sides will come out normal and eating fine I noticed that you didn’t pick your whole ball of yarn up and move it on the other side you just moved a little piece of string so it was in the back and then that was that you didn’t even move any of that yarn at all and that’s what I’ve been doing I’ve been picking up my whole ball of yarn that I’m not using moving it to the back and then move it out to the front and you just moved a little piece of yarn and crochet it over it and that was that wow this video is actually totally amazing and I’m loving it
@kurtshousedemos367111 ай бұрын
So when “dropping” and picking up the new color, do you just do the exact normal stitch but just pull the new yarn through ? Woobles makes me do a slip stitch whenever it’s time to start a new color but that’s when a new round is beginning but since it’s just a giant spiral and there really are no beginning or end to a row, I always wondered why I needed to slip stitch that particular stitch that changes the color, instead of just doing a normal stitch but pulling through the new yarn
@kurtshousedemos367111 ай бұрын
Now that I look closer it looks like when you change color your are finishing the first part of the stitch until you only have two strands left on the hook and then dropping the color and pulling the new one altheway through… that would be considered a slip stitch then , right? I mean the act of pulling altheway through as opposed to normal sc st which would not do that??

@@EllenGormleyCrochet I really think you cleared most of it up but isn't that like using tunisian to make an Afghan?

Is there an email or a way to message you by any chance to show you a picture of some thing of my project so I can maybe have you explain why it’s doing what it’s doing
@cassandrarudolph13073 жыл бұрын
So basically what all I have to do is follow exactly how you’re doing this because I’m doing a blanket and I want both sides of the blankets to be nice and neat this is how I would do it because I would have to carry up the yarn like a little bit the new you know what I mean I would have to bring up the yarn a few stitches and go over it to hide so you don’t see that big line crossing over
@cassandrarudolph13073 жыл бұрын
Does she have videos or do you have videos that I haven’t seen or come across yet of how to carry multiple yarns across or 2 yards across in the same row is that even possible
@cassandrarudolph13073 жыл бұрын
OK so what you’re saying is when I’m done using the red for an example I drop the red in the back and then I add all my new collar and a weave over the tail and keep using that color when I’m done with that call or I’ll drop it in the back and then I’ll add a new collar and repeat repeat repeat repeat so the last thing that I did that was Like this she said the wrong roll the yard and goes in the back the right row the yarn goes in the front or something like that so when I’m on the wrong route I have to go underneath bring my old mayor and that I’m not using my old yarn underneath the new yarn so I don’t have to do that so what I’m doing is this I’ll just keep dropping the old line that I’m not using anymore in the back I don’t have to bring the old guard in the front or I don’t have to bring the old yard in the back just keep it in the back right is that what you’re saying hopefully explain that

So I’m doing a blanket so what you’re telling me I don’t have to do you know the yarn goes in the backyard goes in the front wrong side right side I don’t have to do that is that what you’re telling me is that all I have to do as when I’m done using the yarn that I’m using just drop it in the back and then carry-on with my new yarn when I’m done with the new yarn drop it in the back and then flip it over when I get to the end and I’ll just use the yarn that sitting right there right this is so confusing
@cassandrarudolph13073 жыл бұрын
So what I’m saying is that how I have to crochet is I have to sit at a table so when it’s the wrong side I have to bring my old yard and then I’m not using and place it where I’m sitting when it’s the right side I have to touch my new yarn that I’m gonna be using take my old yard put it underneath my new yarn and put it on the table so just imagine you’re sitting at a table it’s the right side I attached my new color that I want on and I take my old collar and put it underneath my new collar and place it on the table and then I use that and I start crocheting and then when it’s the wrong side I have to put the old collar right where I’m sitting because I sit down and I crochet and then I crochet with my new color
