I've been playing bass for 47 years now, and I enjoy Ellen and her Dad's videos so much. I started playing at 17 and Ellen already plays rings around anything I could do at 17. This beautiful little girl has a very bright musical future ahead of her. Her Dad, who is an excellent musician in his own right, is guiding her beautifully every step of the way.

As for the bass, it sounds way better than the price would lead you to believe. Love that bass clef shirt on the doctor!! LOL! Dad almost caught a shot in the face at the end there! Funny story. I got my first guitar from a neighbor who gave it to me on Independence Day. I was holding it sitting next to his father when someone shot off a really loud firework in the back yard. I jumped and the guitar headstock hit the dad in the mouth and chipped his tooth!! That was probably around 1970 when I was around 10 years old! Thanks for popping that memory into my head. Glarry has a decent reputation. The body shape reminds me of a Washburn Taurus or, on the higher end, Warwick Fortress. At just $110, Glarry is going to sell a thousand of these little basses solely on the basis of this one review. You folks had better hire some more craftspeople - especially a really great bass tech like Derek Jones - and while you're at it buy a bunch of really amazing wood planks as well! Ellen and Hovak will be coming back very soon for another, somewhat larger bass, and they're going to ask for something really special! Meanwhile, Ellen's playing just gets better and better. Well, I'll admit that this is the first video I watched after coming home. I could tell right away that the bass was a short scale, but I was not prepared for it being a mere 25.5 inches -- the same scale length as a Fender Strat or Tele! That makes it a bit short for me, since I, like Ellen, own an Ibanez MiKro bass. (I'm considering one of those in 5-string form.) I would probably order one right now if it were the longer 30 inch scale length -- but it is what it is. I wonder if I would have bought one of these if I'd known about it before I got the Ibanez. Not for me now, but I'd say someone could get good use out of it. Thank you both for the vid. Peace! ... And "bye" works fine, too, Ellen!😎

Hey, Ellen ... Even though I am old enough to be your grandfather (or great grandfather maybe), I still admire the progress you make day by day. You just keep getting better and better. Today, on this base, you did something that I have been waiting for ... you played every single note perfectly in tune! I have noticed that on basses with a long neck, it is hard for you to reach or the distance you have to move you left hand is too far to play so fast. So, then the note you play is close, but not always "spot on" and in tune. Today was it was a thrill to listen to you to play. You are really getting up to speed. You might even want to stick with something close to this size for a while. Congratulataions on a magnificent job. "Grandpa John" Big hugs from me.

As a Tuba player who's always despised the bass guitar (long story), Ellen's story actually makes me consider giving it a try.

I Love Ellen! She's absolutely adorable! I'm a drummer and my two sons are not at all musically inclined. I'd love to jam with Ellen - she totally rocks! Just subscribed to the channel.

I love the looks and sound of this bass but I'm a 6' tall dude and this one is just a bit too small. However, I love short-scales, or any bass that is EZ to play. $110 and Ellen & Dad like it? That is a very good endorsement. Also, both have good taste in music and know great bass lines when they hear them.

Thanks for all of the fun videos! KZbin recommended your videos for me to see, and I'm so happy it brought me to your channel! You're getting into slap bass? Are you familiar with legendary bassist Les Claypool from the band Primus? His band used the bass as their lead instrument, and Les is crazy good at slap bass. Check out their song "Tommy the Cat".

I bought a Glarry once, it was a 5 string that weighed 6 1/2 Lbs..... One important thing to do is set the string height at the nut... For decades I only played high end Basses like Warwick Thumb, Peavey Cirrus and MM but I find excellence in most of Harley Benton Basses now. They are a great value for the money....

Cool how you show how low key affordable entrance gear can be enough to become a good player. Everyone should start like that. Great video again as always! 😃
