I finally put my finger on why I keep enjoying your videos so much. They're pretty simple, like how most of youtube was back like 10 years ago or so. I'm so happy you're sharing your story, it's super eye opening to me and I'm sure a ton of other people too ❤️ I relate to you in a lot of interesting ways. Your videos have totally changed my mind from thinking "if a kid thinks they're trans then they are and you should get to transition as soon as you want to". It never occurred to me that you can be a fierce LGBT advocate but still want to prevent children from doing something to their bodies they may seriously wish they hadn't done in the future. I really bet that if people had enough mental health support in their lives from a young age, and also if people supported "not girly" girls and "not boyish" boys as they were without pushing them any certain way, there would be a lot more happy kids out there and less adults who were failed by a system they couldn't control. Just really wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your insight and I really wish you nothing but love and light. ❤️

I would like to know from people who detransitioned, for ftms, did you think of yourself as a man? Did being called by male pronouns made you feel better and right? And did it hurt when you were referred to as a woman? Did you ever think of yourself as a man in the far future? Did you see yourself being a father in the future? I would be glad if someone could answer me those questions. I really can't understand how someone could be wrong about their gender identity, to the point of starting to transition, and then realize that it isn't right for them. I would like to understand. Cause I'm sure I am a man, a trans man, and I feel the need to transition since about 7 years ago, and now I'm finally very close to it, but seing these kind of videos makes me afraid I might be wrong, because there are people that were sure too and then found out they were wrong.

But just because they can be about themselves and just because she was about her doesn't mean that you're wrong about you. And if you are.. then you stop, and do something else. It wasn't a waste, because you aren't a waste.

Hi Elle! I really enjoyed this update and it was refreshing hearing you think about the future. As someone going through a transition of sorts myself (non-gender related complete life overhaul after the end of a 20 year relationship and 18 year marriage), your video reminded me of the importance of daydreaming about the future and becoming optimistic about the possibilities. I also found the information about hormones very interesting, as I was previously a female bodybuilder who dabbled with hormones and had some interesting physical changes, many of which are changing in another direction now. Taking harder classes is a great way to figure out if journalism is what you want to do. I did the same thing. I was majoring in history, took a few upper level classes to see if it was something I wanted to do and absolutely hated it. LOL so I figured out what to do next over the summer and I could not have ended up in a better match for me than anthropology. If I didnt explore the harder classes I would have wasted a shit ton of time and money.

The language you learn should be largely determined by the country/culture you are most interested in visiting/learning about. As a native English speaker who learned both Spanish and German....German is much much harder. But worth it if you are interested in travelling/working/living in a German speaking country. SPANISH. Also, psychology is a good major. Only thing is you would most likely need to get a masters as well. Journalism is great to do if that is your passion, however, it may be hard to find work. But I would definitely say that if you still are interested but aren’t passionate about it then a minor in journalism would be great. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field is a good route because that’s really where the money is. Something I would recommend for you since you’re interested in Psychology is Social Work. Social Work has so many different avenues of work potential. I’m on my last year of college and my major is Criminal Justice but I’m also Minoring in Social Work and I plan to get my masters in Social Work hopefully. But I feel like Criminal Justice and Social Work go really good together, especially for what I plan to do. I’ve always wanted to do something within the system but in a humanistic kind of way. Social Work allows for that because it’s more Social so like community outreach or working at the micro, mezzo and/or macro level (which is something you would learn about) there’s case management, school social work, therapy, and pretty much anything you could imagine. A social worker could work in a hospital (in a Social work way of course) so maybe you would be providing resources for families that come to the hospital or crisis intervention for kids/teens/adults/elders or something like that. There are social workers that work in the CJ system (which is pretty much where I see myself). A lot of people think social workers just work in CPS and take kids away but it’s such a broad field. I’d definitely say that you should look into it if you’re interested in anything that I listed or something similar. I have so much advice for college success based on what I’ve learned so far. If you’re still undecided, it’s good to explore but also narrow down things as you go since you’ll have to declare by the end of your sophomore year. Also, think realistically as well. Unfortunately that’s what it’s come to based on our economy. So make sure that whatever you are contemplating is going to be worth the money you’re paying to be in school. Especially if you have loans, you gotta be able to pay them off. Also, INTERNSHIPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT because even if you get a bachelors and a masters you will struggle to find work if you have zero experience or not enough. A lot of places want at least one to two years of experience when they’re considering people for a job. It’s good to start now since you are in your first year. Volunteer, find internships and/or work, make connections because that will definitely help you. Sorry this is long-winded, I just feel the need to share what I’ve learned because I’ve had to learn through trial and error and there’s a lot I wish I had and hadn’t done. Also, it’s a good time to start building credit if you haven’t already, but BE CAREFUL. You want to keep your credit card balance low so that you can pay the full balance, that’s better for building credit in addition to making sure you always pay on time. If for some reason you can’t pay the full balance, at least make sure you have set aside some money to pay the minimum balance which can vary based on how much of your available credit you’ve used. I am an adult with three children . I watch your videos because I have BDD. My youngest is 25 and I have some advice, take it or leave it: 1. I majored in journalism and it is a dead end 2. My daughter majored in psychology and got a graduate degree in counseling high school students with an emphasis in LGBT. She had multiple job offers and makes a great salary 3. Change your voice. I'm studying diesel mechanics at a community college, it pays well pick a trade college is worthless. I have a degree in criminal justice and biomedical both were a fucking pain in the ass with learning disabilities and ADHD. I plan going back for my amp powerplant once I complete my diesel classes and I'll make better money, I originally was applying to physician assistant school. I have friends who are MDs, Nps and PAs tell me it doesnt pay as well cause of regulations and lawsuits

Auslander ; Think about the long run, how do you see yourself in 10 years, 20 years, etc. If you see yourself as a man, then it would be a good idea to transition is that is what you so desire. I would also recommend seeing a therapist that has a lot of experience with trans people. I’m 16 and almost a year on testosterone and it’s the best decision I ever made. Before testosterone I was very depressed and testosterone really helped improve my mental health drastically.

Along with, Billy Crystal, George Carlin, Robin Williams and so many others who had shtick. It was there shtick that made them famous. And you most definitely now have shtick. And that allows you to turn your negative into an entertaining and financially rewarding positive. So let me just say this. That's working in the entertainment industry as a voiceover professional. And there is no better job to have in this world. Than being a part of the entertainment industry. At the highest levels. Where all the fun, exciting people and celebrities exist. And then possibly, pouf. Somebody hands you a contract for a part in a movie. And it's all over. Your life will never be the same again. And do you think you can handle fame and fortune? Because anything else you choose. We'll just be a job. That you have to work at. And who the hell wants to work? I never have. I've been in the entertainment industry now for over 50 years. Yes I'm that old. I'm pushing 65. And I got in at 15. When I became a broadcaster. And a few years later. I found myself at hit recording studios in New York City. And then NBC-TV for the next 20 years. And so I count myself both lucky, professional. And I am now the woman of my dreams. But I still sound like Don Lafontaine. But I don't want to do the voiceover work. I want to record hit records. I'm better at that. And so at 65 years of age. I'm heading to Los Angeles. To start, anew. And again. Probably for the next, 10-15-20 years. But only because I'm not done having fun yet. And pursuing my career goals. As I grow and mature and become still yet better at what I do. As I'm always learning. Always changing and adapting and moving forward. That's what we must do in life. Life is not static. It's ever-changing. Sometimes for the good. And sometimes for the very worst. I'm going to the very worst, currently. So I must turn this around for myself. And I will. As when I say I'm going to do something. I do it up better than anyone else. And that's fine I'm so good at what I do. Failure is not an option. And right now I too am faltering. As I recently moved and relocated to, Austin, Texas. But now after five years. This ain't working for me here. Because it's not professional enough. For this award nominated twenty-year major television network veteran. There's too much amateurism here. And they're just not interested in raising themselves higher. Well I am. And I always have been. I'm a professional. And one of the very best, in the entertainment and broadcast industry. And so now. After all these years. Something I never expected. I find myself a world authority. And I made a major impact with television news audio the world over. And I don't have a fucking college degree. I'm a bona fide high school dropout with nothing more than a GED. And a couple of weeks of technical training seminars servicing studio tape recorders and audio consoles. And I have gone far beyond anyone's expectations. As to what someone can do. Without a college degree. And so. I have found myself teaching college professors. Because I cannot teach at the university level. So I can only teach the professors. Now that is just fucking wild. And then the celebrities I have worked with. Not just rock 'n' roll stars. But also movie stars and sports celebrities. And then I've worked with some of my favorite rock 'n' roll artists. I mean how is this possible? I guess I'm good? No I'm not. I'm great. You will be also. If you set your mind to turning your negatives into positives. And accepting the decisions you made to early in life. But it might lead you in the right place. Life is stranger than fiction. And I'm the perfect definition of that. So do your thing girl. And amaze the world with your voice. You're getting a liberal arts degree. Take some acting and public speaking courses. It will serve you well. You are very photogenic. You've got what it takes to make a lot of money. And that will help provide you with a wonderful life and maybe family of your own one day. I have no children of my own. And at 65. I still feel like I'm 25. Because I never had any children to age me. I never had to set a good example. Keep good hours. Eat properly. None of that. I get to be 25 for the rest of my life. Because who wants to grow up and get old? That's no fun. I'm having fun. You will also. Do your thing girl. Make it happen. You've got what it takes. And I know it. I can hear it. I can see it. You can't fool me. And you wanted a degree in liberal arts. This is right up your alley girl. And you're going to be able to make money with that degree. Others won't. They'll get other jobs. And they will be jobs. Not a career. Having a career is fabulous. There's nothing else quite like it.

And furthermore. So I think by taking me up on my suggestions. It will help you to better find yourself and accept yourself. For who you are. Not what you are. You are a person. A real person. And that's all that matters. And stop painting everything with male and female. Just use your great speaking voice. Learn how to use it correctly. Learn how to speak and enunciate, correctly. Listen to announcers on those major coast-to-coast commercials. For the big companies. And that's what you want to aim for. And contracts are involved with that. Sometimes spanning many years. And/or telling people what they're going to see on, NBC, ABC, CBS, tonight. Etc., etc. It's all freelance stuff you can do mostly from home. And you will have a marvelous voiceover studio in your home in the corner of your room. And you'll hardly believe what's happening to you. And your head will be spinning with excitement. As you get contracted for one job after the other. It's going to drive you crazy. And you're absolutely going to love doing it. And you will love it all the better when you realize how much money you are making. I mean, it's nuts. But I'm not much of a reader due to severe ADD. And that's why I don't pursue that kind of work myself. I'd rather just be the engineer behind the glass. That's my Focht. I know my place. And I don't think I'm cut out to make millions of dollars like you are going to. And well it's because I'm both handicapped and stupid. So it's not just ADD it's also my stupidity. But I'm still considering turning around and pursuing it. Once I move to Los Angeles from Austin, Texas. And then watch out. I might give you a run for your money? Because my voice is deeper and sexier than yours as a man. Even though I am most definitely a female form factor woman now. And that happened to me. That really happened to me some years ago. I got hired for a voiceover. For a commercial. My colleague and friend got me the gig. He was going to engineer. So, when I walked into the studio and sat down behind the microphone. I could see something going wrong in the control room with Bruce and the producer. The producer seemed to get mad. He got real mad. But Bruce is laughing and shaking his head. Then Bruce asks me for a sound check. There was no more laughing. They heard Don Lafontaine from this woman in the studio. And there was no problems after that. And because I had the sound they wanted. With my deep resonant speaking voice. I mean it's deep. And no matter what I have done in the past 34 years. Lord knows I've tried. No way can I sound like a girl. And so I'm screwed as a girl. Without getting screwed, as a girl. So on microphone. I'm still a man. But only on microphone. Because most people see a woman when they look at me. I don't. I see my dad when I look in the mirror. Ugh. Dad never looked as pretty as mom. And I don't either. Oh well. Maybe better luck in my next lifetime? If I could come back as pretty as you. And I'd still live with my voice. If, I looked like you. I would have it made. But I don't. I look like my dad. So I'm not as good on camera or photogenic like you. You're going to do just fine. You're going to find yourself. And you're going to have a whale of a great life ahead of you. The skies the limit. Embrace what you have. Embrace what you have created. Embrace yourself. Never denigrate yourself. Never apologize for being you. No more negatives. Change them to positives. You can do it. I know you can. I can feel it. And so I know you will be very successful. But only if that's what you decide for yourself. Without compromise. And never let anybody tell you what you can't do. If anything. Take it on. Just to prove how stupid they are. And that's a lot of fun to do also. I've done that plenty. And that's fun. You get to prove a lot to yourself. Stay indoors. Stay healthy. Follow suggested guidelines to the letter. And this too shall pass. Good things come to those who wait. And take care of yourself. And I just want you to know. I feel connected to you because of your voice. We both face the same dilemmas. You certainly don't sound like a girl. But look like one. I certainly don't sound like a girl. And don't look like one. And I have had to overcome that all by turning my negatives into positives. And that's what intelligent intellectual people can do that others can't. And so I believe in you kiddo. Make certain you believe in yourself. Stop connecting the gender stuff to who you are. You are just you. You are unique. You are special. And so you might need to use. Whatever that testosterone did to your mind. And occasionally emulate some masculine characteristics. It will take you farther. Nobody will argue with you with your voice. They'll know you mean business. And you're not screwing around. You'll see. You'll see how powerful you can become. And I don't know a single woman. That doesn't want to be empowered and powerful in her own right. You may have just broken that glass ceiling. And have you ever thought about running for public office? And if you have some celebrity. That makes that all the easier. And I know this guy who was a reality TV star. He's now in the White House. And he's no good. And you need to help overcome his types. And think of what kind of a voice you might have for other women. The woman who sounds like a man. Who can represent other women. With the voice of authority. That no one can top. Where other men will sound like little boys whose voices haven't changed yet. And will sound all Snively. You will never be that. You've got a powerful instrument there to use. Use it. You won't be sorry. And I wouldn't have written all of this folderol. And taken this much time. If I didn't care and didn't believe in you. But I do. And I don't know why? There's something about you. You have a certain magnetism and attraction. That pulls people in. You have a very nice way about you. A woman but not a woman. A man but not a man. It's someone special.
