Mr. Weir completely demonstrates why the short "compulsory" program should be in & of itself, a medal winner. John Curry is the most incredible skater ever - second in the forgotten compulsory figures, but first in short & long. Since they dumped the figures, the short program has become the part of the competition in which each skater can fairly become compared to the next. No one since Scott Hamilton has completed the short program like Weir. Shouldn't that account for something? I can barely remember the last Olympic gold medalist for men's figure skating - but will always remember a Weir for his artistry, despite placement.

Like an angel. He & John Curry are the most lyrical skaters of all time IMHO. It's ironic that if Curry skated today, he couldn't medal & if Weir skated back then (& had decent figures) he'd win it all! Skating has certainly changed since Curry's day - and sadly, not for the better! Jumps have taken over & no merit for the passion, stroking & spins!
