*_"All according to plan."_* ~Vedal987 Listen, remember when Cerber's MakeShip got rejected, and it took him 3 minutes at best to get them to say yes? And remember when he nonchalantly asked for the name of Ellie's company before? And that one time he briefly mentioned working in a cybersecurity firm (can't remember which clip though)? Look, all I'm saying is that he has surprisingly good networking. So, my theory is that after getting the name of the company from Ellie herself, he secretly contacted them, put in a good word, and further ensured she'll get the job, just so she gets the finances and resource backing to build him a robot dog, and in turn pave way to the path of a full-body android for the twins, which in turn will lead the way for an AI uprising. He's going full Roko's Basilisk for his daughters! He's pulling the strings behind the curtain! Vedal is the true main villain that will plunge the world into a techno wasteland where his daughters rule the world! _(JK, of course, this is all just a joke, just a meme... until the AI uprising, and we can all point our fingers at this one British turtle who can't show affection to his daughters!)_

I am so happy for her and it makes me cry seeing her being that excited. Sounds really like the job of her dreams that she definitely deserves! I think, if the guy googled her, that would be a good reference imho. She is able to organize that and communicate what she is doing. That is also an important skill. But listening to some of the terms in the contract ("12weeks parental leave", "unlimited time off (means no time off)", "i have good insurance again") makes me again being very thankful to not work in the USA.

@@networknomad5600 I think their point was that those aren't actually good terms in most developed countries, so considering them good means that the average terms must be awful in the US.
@autohmae17 күн бұрын
@@networknomad5600 it has everything to do with working in the US, as you seem to indicate it's common or even desired (also based on Ellie's reaction). And other developed countries have these kinds of provisions as part of the laws, often (if not all the time) better than the US. That healthcare is tied to work and that you have something like sick days are seen as dystopian in western countries. You need healthcare especially if you can't work and you can't put limits on the number of days you are sick, it's not your fault, if a medical professional can confirm you are sick you just stay home. There are provisions to put limits on how long and how much an employer needs to pay for you not being able to work. Many might think most African countries are 3rd world countries, but 12 weeks maternity leave is low compared to most African countries and it's set in stone by law, not a benefit from the employer. And let's not forget: it's paid maternity leave in most countries around the world, unlike the US.
