I like the way she describes the feelings the pieces invoke in her, because i think that this is trully why art should be made and appreciated. Sometimes, behind the pretentioness of the art enstabilishment, we can often feel as if more contemporanean and abstract works are nothing but overanalized fluff, and while it certainly happens, i think it's important to claim the experience as your own. Allow yourself to explore the feelings that a certain piece awakens in you. It might seem like a piece that is basically ink splashes wouldn't mean anything to you, but suddenly you find yourself mesmerized by the colors or texture. Modern art isn't here to tell you that the cistine chapel is inferior to a couple scribbles, but actually to allow you the notion that it's ok to express yourself in a visual medium, regardless of what kind of images are being created. And of course, you shouldn't force yourself to think all art is good (i could throw picasso's entire body of work into a dumpster fire honestly), and most importantly the art market has NOTHING to do with the objective quality of the pieces being sold. Don't look for the million dollar pieces, look for the artist that speak and create about the stuff you are passionate about, and always be open to the possibility of changing your mind upon discovering its context. TL DR: art isnt bad, the system is. Enjoy any shit u want

I think if any future civilisation saw this 'art', they would probably either think it was done by a child or that someone split some paint on a canvas. You can find meaning and beauty in a floating plastic bag but that could hardly be considered equivalent to a work of Michelangelo

These are not art. These are scribbles and splotches. I could do these myself there is zero art here. If anyone can do it then there is literally no value there. One of the minimums of art is "well I couldn't do this piece myself". Are these people getting paid money for this nonsense? Why am I not hired to make these?

Hi! If you’re interested in learning why modern art is in fact art, try and pick up the book ‘What are you looking at?’ by Will Gompertz. The art of these works is often not in the work itself, but in the thought that created the piece. It’s actually very interesting once you open yourself up to it!

@@xsoofiexx That is just BS in order to sell stuff without value. Also buying a book would just support this phenomenon of people coming up with an arbitrary and made up reason why they should be given money for nothing. The book is clearly intended to provide support for the original pricing model in order to manipulate some people who have no brains to believe something has value which has no value. You are supporting this very scam with your comment. Shamefull. Again why cant I get paid like this I can come up with BS narrative about what I was thinking and what the painting represents that manipulates someone naive with a weakmind.

MrJustCallMeJames I’m definitely not trying to get into an argument with you about our different opinions. I was merely trying to give you a recommendation for you to read so you could get answers to your questions in your first comment (e.g. why you’re not hired to make pieces like these). It’s absolutely fine by me if you don’t want to read anything, not here to persuade anyone into doing anything at all. Have a good day!

@@xsoofiexx You were trying to get a convert and build consensus to maintain and expand this false pretence of a valuation scheme. That protects the position of the undeserving, unethical and parasitic artist class that has no talent. Their insanely privileged while producing nothing of value or benefit. You are now trying to backpeddle while trying to falsely reframe this as an "argument" or "different opinion" like your "opinion" had any long term objective sustainable validity, or is in anyway equal here. Because the conversion to the same narrative lie that you hold onto, didn't go like you had imagined in your head. Also that book would not answer the question I put out. I have the ability to both do these paintings and come up with BS narratives for the works. According to you that book only lists and propagates the justifications for the false valuations.

All three are terrible and a prime example of what is wrong with a lot of so called art ,over explaining crap to make it sound all deep and expressive ,it is crap and no it's not subjective its crap but garners gravitas through art world cronyism.
