Elon is a right wing fascist funding millions to Trumps authoritarian campaign/plan to end US democracy. Look up Project 2025. Authoritarian nightmare fuel. Anyone ignoring or supporting that has no credibility. I love SpaceX but Elon needs to be removed from the company before his deplorable beliefs and behavior destroys the companies reputation. He's definitely no hero for selling out his country/democracy to Trump for massive tax breaks Trump has promised Billionaires. That's clearly morally bankrupt.

The property tax rate for Bastrop is a little lower than Travis, but for a company as big as X, that probably is a lot of money saved in absolute measures.
@kawkasaurousАй бұрын
For individuals, no income tax and in that tax bracket, that's saving about 9k a year for an individual. Sales tax in Texas is also cheaper then CA. And if they own property in ca their property taxes are probably around 10k and texas would be about 6-8k, each individual will probably save about 15k per individual 10:04 On the bussiness side .... CA has a crazy amount of regulations, silly rules. But tax wise Texas doesn't charge a business tax and CA is 1.5 to 8% depending on Corp type.

It's great for the county. Folks outside of Texas have no idea of how important county government is to the state as a whole. The job of county Judge is actually head of the executive function. Collectively the judges are more powerful than the Governor. The state Governor is relatively weak compared to other states. Bastrop has been a bedroom community for Austin for decades. It suffered a devastating wildfire that burned roughly 1800 homes, mine included. Texas county revenue is basically taxes on property. Schools run almost exclusively on property taxes but not directly. It's absurdly complicated but money is heavily redistributed from weather counties and school districts to poorer areas. It results in actual poor schools sending money to poorer schools. Bastrop is such a school district. Bringing Elons companies to the county will significantly change the school funding. One big positive.

We built raise drills and TBM's for companies that were in Morocco, Australia, and the last project I got to work on was the conversion of a hard rock machine for the Tai Sei Water project in China. We added 4' of cutter head to make the diameter 31' for the company. When Copco shut down they kept the cutter head part of the operation and moved it back to Sweden, and sold off the rest of the company to former employees who formed a company called Bortec. This was a nice walk down memory lane.

The Boring Bodega is a way for construction workers, at the Musk Industry facilities, to get essential care: food, relaxation, recreation, groceries, and pampering all near their worksites (Boring Co., Starlink, X,Com). I visualize all these Musk Industries linked together by a skyway and Boring shuttle tunnel , which will bring commerce and residential increases to the area. Hopefully the small family farms and ranches nearby will find a means to cohabitate with the growing industry.

I think the Boring Company may some day be one of Musk's biggest assets. That may seem a risky call because of the strength of his other assets but it has great potential. I don't think it works so much using Tesla vehicles (unless those Tesla vehicles are high speed "trains") but using rapid transit is a different story. Right here in Ohio we could use rapid transit in every one of our major cities. Particularly in Columbus and Cleveland. We could also link all of the major cities by tunnels below the interstate highway system. These are properties already allocated for travel and convenient to people. It makes it easier to do. I've lived in Atlanta and know what an asset it can be. I've also been responsible for operations in 40 other states and every where I've been high speed transit could be an asset.

All the best places to live in "Austin" are in the area referred to as "West of Weird"! Which is all the conservative ran towns just west further into the Hill Country.
