Hello, I am doing a lot of self study in Mathematics and your videos are a great inspiration to me as they motivate me to put in the long hours needed to succeed. Could you please do a video talking about the textbooks/reference books for each of your classes at Leeds and Cambridge. Wish you lots of success in life.

Well, the course really looks so intense one really need to put a lot of effort into it and I thought that's what makes it amazing and quite attractive. I wanna know more specifically about astrophysics portion of this module. And congratulations for completing up this course. And I'm looking to read your thesis the topics seems quite interesting to me :'). All the best.

Ellie should go to IMPA in Brazil, so she'd compare and verify that the Masters at IMPA is as demanding, if not more, compared to Cambridge Part III.

I study in the Department of Statistics and Informatics. It is a very difficult and complex section. I completed my bachelor’s degree in 2021, and I am currently studying for a higher diploma, which is less than a master’s degree and higher than a bachelor’s degree. Greetings from the State of Kurdistan 🇹🇯

To anyone thinking about Part III, the Faculty of Mathematics has decided that from 2024-2025 the Part III essay will no longer optional. Unlike the undergraduate tripos, where the course content is prescribed by the Faculty Board in a set of schedules, Part III course content is entirely at the discretion of the lecturer. For this reason, a course given one year may not be available the next (e.g., the lecturer is on sabbatical or leaves Cambridge), and even if it is, the course content may change if a different lecturer gives the course.

Hello, I was wondering whether you're a former Part III student (particularly admitted from an external university)? If so, I'd like to ask whether you think a 45% in first year Algebra (the equivalent of Part IA Vectors and Matrices + some of Numbers and Sets) will make it unlikely that I'm given an offer for Part III? The rest of my first year modules were >80%, and, based on how my recent second year January exams went as well as an improvement in work ethic, I think I'll perform just as well in my modules this year (which include Linear Algebra, which is a superset of the second half of Algebra) Thank you very much

@@benbrook469 Hi, I was an undergraduate at Cambridge before taking Part III and am now a fellow of one the colleges. I cannot give a definitive answer to your question because I am not involved in admissions for Part III (and if I were, I would not be making decisions over the internet). However, I would imagine a single poor exam result, especially in your first year is unlikely to indicate that you would not be able to study Part III. Your most recent set of results will be a better guide to your ability to cope with course material.

If you are a top student at any of leading Russell group universities, ie average in high 70's or 80's % then you will have no problem keeping up with good Cambridge students.
@williamwarren52345 ай бұрын
@@davidc4408 Is that so? I'm top performing at a top 10 uni but my exams look way way easier than the ones they do at Cambridge. Maybe it's easier if you did the problem sheets for each course.

Quant here, all you need is a proper thinking framework, no specific higher mathematics needed beyond calculus and linear algebra. Of course, the way you think will develop as you take more advanced courses but won’t need the specific theorems. I’m a number theorist who never took a probability course…

@@EllieSleightholm Oh ok. I admit, I am going back a few years since looking at all this stuff. I started my Pure Mtahs degree here in Australia and gave it up as my life changed directions, totally. I thought about maybe taking it up later once I move to Europe and settling down yet I just reached my mid-50s and my interest is not as strong as before and prefer to relax and enjoy my life from here as compared to stressing out over assignments and exams and for something I'll get no return, apart from the knowledge. I also know I could not handle studying Theoretical Physics as am too strong a believer in the works and research of Nikola Tesla who constantly debated with Einstein etc. I am 100000% behind things Tesla said, and as a result, I would constantly be arguing with the lecturer and probably get kicked out of class. And I am too old for that, now. lol

@BarriosGroupie Жыл бұрын
I think you're wrong here: all the university courses in the UK are roughly at the same level because they're inter-moderated to maintain standards. What's different is that the percentage of students that get a 1st is way higher for say Trinity Cambridge compared to say Birmingham university. Note also that the teaching is often taken from *standard undergraduate textbooks:* it would be pretty stupid and irresponsible for a lecturer to teach a course using the idiosyncratic teaching methods of Trinity college Cambridge that weren't known and available to the rest of the world.
@McFlashh10 ай бұрын
The content is the same, it's just that at Cambridge you need to learn the content at a faster pace which is harder.
@takunn1519 ай бұрын
I disagree with you. A merit at Cambridge is a first any where else. I do Maths but that degree is hard. Don’t you dare compare to tripos to doing Maths at Birmingham.
@IDontKnow-vh3no9 ай бұрын
This isnt true, oxbridge cap the amount of people who get firsts by 30% a lot of the time, whereas plenty of other unis have nearly half the cohort achieving a first
@adw1z6 ай бұрын
That’s not true at all, the it’s much harder to get a 1st at Cambridge compared to the other Unis, simply because of the immense “competition” around you. There comes a cap where no matter how hard you try and revise, your grade is solely dictated by your mathematical ability. The average 2,2 student at Cambridge would be able to get an easy high first at somewhere like Birmingham, I guarantee it. And also, less than half the mathmos at trinity get 1st’s, so your your conception is also wrong

Lol I don't likke to reply to KZbin comments cuz it's a waste of time, but sure. Just India you'll find many hard courses offered at the undergrad level, let alone in France for example (in what's called classes préparatoires) like Topology offered in the second year of undergrad, China, Russia... just don't say "hardest in the world" when you haven't seen what math is like in the other parts of this planet... 🙃
