you guys, if your worried about langauge, as long as you do a lesson everyday and review 1 hour each (1 review, 1 study) then you can complete korean in 1 - 1 1/2 year.

The speed at which someone picks up a language depends on a lot of factors. Someone who picks up a new language quickly typically already speaks or at least understands one other foreign language already. Someone who has never been exposed to foreign languages before may take longer to pick up something as simple as the alphabet as their brains are working harder to recognize patterns in sounds. I personally understand a healthy level of 2 other languages on top of english, so my brain picks up patterns in speech of foreign languages fairly quickly. 1-1.5yrs of studying may only get people to a high intermediate level in Korean depending on how intensely they study the language every day.

I know this is 2 years late, but I have had a lot of difficulty finding an answer that fits my circumstances. 1. I am American, married to a Korean with U.S citizenship. 2. I am receiving 2 retirement pensions from the Army [22 years Infatry and anther 22 DA Civilian] + Social security. 3. We are moving permanently to Korea next month and she is working her F4 visa now (only missing the apostille which is being processed) 4. I am trying to find a path to the resident card, then long term stay, but I will be either in a non visa status or an F1. ( think both only allow 90 days). In ignorance, the only way forward I can see is: She gets the F4 and her ARC and I try to extend my stay until I can apply for an better visa. If they allow me to stay past 90, then I can also apply for the ARC. Hopefully, you have a better way, because that feels sketchy to me.

Hello! There is one thing you didn't mention about the F2 visa, and that is that, as far as I understand, you have to make an investment of 500 million KRW and if you keep it for 5 years you have access to the F5 visa, that's what I understand. I could be wrong but I understand that it is like that, if not, could you please tell me? Thank you.

Do you think an American could move to Koria and retire? I'll give you a little more info. This person has already been retired for more than ten years and is ready for something new. He was telling me that older people are treated with a lot more respect in Korea than in the US and thought this sounded good. He also mentioned that he had no interest in living in a large city. He has a very good income that is absolutely solid so he has no worries about money and will not need to work. Thanks for your time and help.

It says on the internet that your need at least 5 years as permanent resident before you apply to citizenship. Does that mean that any type of visa counts or it is just for the F-2-7 or the F-5 visa categories? So, ultimately one might need around 8 years before you can apply to citizenship? Is it that hard to become citizen? I can't find much information online. Thank you!

After graduation you could change to the D-10 visa which is for working right after graduation. As far as I know you are quite flexible on that visa but some jobs might still not be allowed by the Immigration service, like working in a nightclub etc.

@@ElliinKorea so u can work multiple jobs like, i work in hotel which is my main job and then i can work another part time job? Is that right? We are not limited to what job we do? As long as it is d10 visa? And if i leave my main job it is okay? Can i still find another job right? I don't have to leave the country if i leave my former job?

You could do that. But the E-6 visa is much, much easier to get and focuses on the entertainment industry. So that would be a better fit. :)

Hello 👋. I know this is a really old video and you may not reply to comments on it, but I was hoping that you may be able to help me please?. I would like to ask, can the degree you have be any degree?, I am considering going for a bachelor degree in software engineering, and once I graduate, I was thinking of trying to get a scholarship for a masters degree in software engineering in korea, and using that to my advantage in finding long term work in korea, with a view to eventually getting myself into the position of gaining my F-2 like you. Would this be achievable?, what do you think the chances of foreigners getting scholarship in korea are? And do you think that this is a feasible and acceptable way of progressing?. Also I don't know if this will matter, but I am 43. Any advice or tips?. Thank you for your time.

Ok , so after doing days of more in depth research , I have discovered, that not only am I too old for a korean scholarship, but by the time i graduate from my masters, I will also be too old to compete in the software engineering field which is extremely disheartening 😭. But nonetheless, I am determined to live and work in korea in whatever capacity I am capable. Have you any advice on what areas of employment other than English teacher that I could aim for?, for example do you have friends who are expats that are working in other fields?. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated by me. Thank you
