Not for the first time, these Elliott Covers have uncovered some of the musicality of his composition in a unique way. The simplicity and complexity of his chord choice and changes is so idiosyncratic and...genius I guess. You do an amazing job.

@RundeKatze7 жыл бұрын
Oh by the way. I don't know how this piano will sound but some uprights sounds even better on recordings when you put your device behind your piano and record the "backside" because you do not have this "attacking clicking sound" of the hits and a more soft tone. But you need to insulate the area around the microphone that no hall will be recorded. I tried it sometimes. I pull my piano around 30cm away from the wall, and put a pillow between the microphones and the wall of the room to avoid reflections. But i did not uploaded any videos with this technique so I can't show you the result.
@heavypiano7 жыл бұрын
I've done that-I prefer the clarity of the sound of micing up front. I usually angle the recorder up a bit so it doesn't get so much hammer attack noise.

Somehow your piano is slightly out of tune in this song in just a wonderful way. Just listening at how wonderful the E minor chords / thirds sound like around 1:20, almost if it had been tuned to give it this particular melancholic tone ! I wonder what it'd be like to tune a piano in a temperament meant for a particular key :)
@heavypiano3 жыл бұрын

First the mic, then a half cigarette Singing, "Cathy's Clown" That's the man she's married to now That's the girl that he takes around town She appears composed, so she is, I suppose Who can really tell? She shows no emotion at all Stares into space like a dead china doll I'm never gonna know you now But I'm gonna love you anyhow Now she's done and they're calling someone Such a familiar name I'm so glad that my memory's remote 'Cause I'm doing just fine hour to hour, note to note Here it is, the revenge to the tune "You're no good You're no good, you're no good, you're no good" Can't you tell that it's well understood? I'm never gonna know you now But I'm gonna love you anyhow I'm here today and expected to stay On and on and on I'm tired I'm tired Looking out on the substitute scene Still going strong XO, mom It's okay, it's alright, nothing's wrong Tell Mr. Man with impossible plans to just leave me alone In the place where I make no mistakes In the place where I have what it takes I'm never gonna know you now But I'm gonna love you anyhow I'm never gonna know you now But I'm gonna love you anyhow I'm never gonna know you now But I'm gonna love you anyhow
