I have materials for learning. Isaan food does not use oil to cook, and in the past, Isan had a ready-made seasoning called "Jaew Bong" which would be a seasoning in every Isaan food. In Chaew Bong, there will be a mixture of Many herbs, chili, tamarind, fermented fish All will be ground together with a mortar. and stored in a bamboo tube When cooking, just add Chaew Bong to the food. It's just that it's delicious. Therefore, if you want to see if it's Isaan food or not, you don't need to add ingredients. Not looking at the raw materials Because Isaan people can transform all kinds of raw materials that people can eat. It can always be Isaan food.

You're right on the point about beer snacks. E-san food's zesty flavor and texture are really popular with beer. Another food trivia! Som-tum is likely a mix of the archaic word of Sour and Pound. Before they discovered America, there were no payaya, tomato, or chili, we used other fruits mixed with pepper instead , can't imagine what it tastes like though. Tum Mamuang (Mango Som-tum) or Tum Ponlamai (Fruit Som-tum) are popular non-papaya som-tum not so well known to non-Thai, which you might wanna try. 😉
