Marc Bolan played on the original recording with Jeff Lynne.......and they played together at a gig in 73. Would be fab if someone out there had recorded that performance!

The video looks similar to the one that was recorded at The Guildhall in Portsmouth, June 1976. I saw them play at The Free Trade Hall in Manchester that month. It was during ELO's "Face the Music" tour, The Steve Gibbons Band was the support act, it was good to see Trevor Burton (ex-The Move) playing bass in the Steve Gibbons Band. I'd seen ELO play at Leeds University the previous year during their "Eldorado" tour, Chopyn were support act. Great memories of my misspent youth.

I was at this gig; it was right at the end of term during my last year at University (Bedford College, University of London). Heard it really well: didn't see it too well as I'd left my glasses behind...

RIP Hugh McDowell too, In concert Hugh was an exciting and entertaining cellist. I remember seeing and hearing Hugh play "The Flight of the Bumblebee" at Leeds University in February 1975, that's a very difficult piece to play on such a large instrument as the cello.

Just discovered this and I can't thank you enough as I am a late fan and would have never ever seen this if not for you!! I see the resemblance to The Beatles here of course ELO is far superior musically~!

When ANW and OOTB became highly successful many great songs like this one, Fire on High, Nightrider, Eldorado stuff and many more were forgotten mostly in their concerts. Was it a good thing It´s about the taste, of course.
