I played with Chris, aka Ace . He was an unassuming guy , a kind heart, and I was sorry to depart his company. A great catalyst and song righter.

Just stumbled on this clip.Very evident why The Move were finished once Ace exited the lineup. He had incredible swing, never to be matched or replaced. If only they had toured the US with Ace. The world would have been a better place. But hey, Roy, Bev and Ace are all still alive...never say never.

Ace is the unknown bass hero of Britain! Only The Ox I would rate higher from that era.
@jduff597 жыл бұрын
A lot was made out of Ace's tome coming from that 1966 "Slab" bass that the Ox also used, but here he's using a Musicmaster of Mustang (can't tell) and it still sounds like Ace, because its how he plays that gives him the sound -monster on 4 strings!

Splendid stuff! I remember rumours circulating at the time of a one-off reunion but didn't hear any more. Great to discover this! The original Move were one of the great English bands. I last saw them at Christmas on Earth (Cont.) right at the end of '67. A Straight Four across the front and one at the back. They were astonishing Live!

Ace never got the success he fully deserved. A rock star in every sense. Wish The Move had reformed permanently and released more albums. They could have been huge in the 70’s. ELO could have still existed alongside after Roy Wood quit and handed over to Jeff Lynne.

Carl Wayne had agreed to join Bev and Trevor in The Move reunion of 2005, unfortunately Carl died in August 2004 before the reunion took place. Roy Wood was asked to join his ex-band mates, but he turned down the offer as he was forming his own new band, The Roy Wood Rock & Roll Band. R.I.P. Carl Wayne : - 18th August 1943 to 31st August 2004. R.I.P. Rick Price : - 10th June 1944 to 17th May 2022.

Never heard of this band until recently as before I was born but I like this song. I thought Roy Wood's first band was ELO until I heard this.
@davidmacgregor51936 жыл бұрын
Roy Wood's first band was The Falcons when he was fourteen years old. He then joined Gerry Levene and the Avengers, then Mike Sheridan and the Nightriders who later became Mike Sheridan's Lot. Wood left Mike Sheridan's Lot to join Ace Kefford, Trevor Burton, Carl Wayne and Bev Bevan to form The Move. Mike Sheridan his band left soon after Wood, Mike Sheridan's Lot became The Nightriders and they hired Johnny Mann as lead guitarist, Mann didn't fit into The Nightriders very well so he soon left and was replaced by Jeff Lynne. The Nightriders then became The Idle Race under Lynne's leadership. The Idle Race finally became The Steve Gibbon's Band in 1972.
