Elon Musk Algorithm Applied to Healthcare. Elon Musk has a 5 step algorithm that he has used to create reusable rockets at SpaceX and electric vehicles at Tesla:
1. Question Every Requirement. Anyone can question any requirement. The name of the person who created the requirement is attached to it... so that there is a single person accountable for every requirement. Then, Elon and his team work to make the requirement 'Less Dumb.'
2. Delete Any Part You Can. All extraneous steps should be removed. In fact, so many steps need to be removed that you actually need to add BACK 10% of the steps you removed. This process ensures that enough deleting has occured.
3. Simplify and Optimize. Step 3 needs to be done after Step 2 because you do not want to optimize a step that should not exist in the first place.
4. Accelerate Cycle Times. Every process can be speeded up.
5. Automate. This step needs to be done last, so as not to automate overly complicated or unnecessary steps.
Examples in hospital operations are given for each of these 5 steps.
Finally, Elon Musk requires all managers to have hands-on experience in the area they are managing. For hospitals, people with patient care experience should become the managers and those in administration should be required to have had patient care responsibilities.

The problem with using NLP and GenAI to write notes is that it's a work around to the real problem, which is ridiculous documentation rules that no other doctors in the developed world have to deal with. On the outpatient side, notes in Western Europe are 2 lines long, total. You can see 5 complete progress notes on one screen. No other country expects the medical record to also be a legal and billing document. They use medical records for their intended purpose: to be tool to help a doctor remember what he was thinking and doing.

Pretty sure Elon Musk types already run Fortune 100 health conglomerates. Extra intermediaries taking a cut might slow clinicians but intermediary profits efficiently flow up the same food chain paying those clinicians now cursing their EHRs, prior auths, and useless proprietary continuing ed certs. Bonus: pool the human auditor years at the FTC, SEC, etc., and it won't be nearly enough for a full game of "follow the money" through fiefdoms like UHC or CVS Health.
