My wife wanted to try an electric vehicle. Here in Hawaii, and since we are retired and don't commute, we don't drive all that much. So, when Tesla sent a number of their less in-demand Model Y with single motor and small battery here since it was obvious that a short range on an island is much less a problem. It was good for a bit over 200 miles, on an island 25 by 45 miles at the extreme. We leased, for three years, that model Y. It was very economical. Well made vehicle. No trouble AT ALL. But, when the lease was up, we couldn't buy the car we had been leasing. Their policy. Dumb policy. So, since the replacement was going to be a lot more expensive, and because we despise the Muskox, we gave it back and leased a lovely Honda. No regrets.

He had founded the company from scratch and it became quickly successful, and was soon valued $1Blln (today $20Blln). Even though he was the CEO he still wanted to code. One thing a lot of people aren't considering when it comes to why shareholders put up with Elon is the fact that they're in a suicide pact with him. Confronting Musk and holding him accountable for disrupting the stock price would also mean confronting the reality that Tesla is not a growth technology company. Tesla is a relatively standard car and, if we're generous, robotics manufacturer. If that fact were widely accepted then the stock price would go down to a more standard price based on the companies fundamentals which is VASTLY lower than the current stock price. I've seen estimates that's around $60 per share but also seen some say as low as $40 per share. Many of these stock holders likely bought in at much higher than that $60 price point, meaning many of them could lose their shirts if the bubble ever bursts, so they give Musk whatever he wants and gamble that they stock can lurch it's way even higher so some day they can cash out with a substantial profit.

You should make a compilation of Musk´s interviews; he is not by far a ´genius´ - doesn´t even know how to answer simple questions and acts like a child when asked ´difficult´ questions (including the silence and rolling of eyes). If he applied for any managerial function for any company in my country (NL) he would be rejected after 2 minutes into the conversation.
