Elon Musk Interview

A video interview with SpaceX space entrepeneur and rocket builder, Elon Musk, on his Dragon capsule, rocket plans and retiring on Mars.
On 16 November CEO and Chief Designer of SpaceX, Elon Musk was the guest of honour at the Royal Aeronautical Society to present a lecture entitled 'SpaceX and the future of space exploration'.
We caught up with Elon to ask him about SpaceX's historic successes this year, his plans for every bigger rockets, visiting Mars and what his favourite fictional spacecraft is (the answer may surprise you!).

Back when this comment was posted, Tesla was just starting to produce the Model S, Autopilot was just an Idea, SpaceX has not even atttempted a booster-landing and just 5 F9 missions were completed. Most Impressive comment I've ever seen!

I finished Deke! a few weeks ago. I was surprised that Slayton had basically run a small rocket company and worked as its chief lobbyist in Washington...to no avail. He never had the money to get the really big contracts! Fortunately, people like Elon have ganged up on the costs of rocket technology. Aviation and aerospace have retained an ancient spirit of adventure that breathes deep in so many regular people who are anchored forever to a more or less fixed point on the surface of the Earth.

No he knows about Skylon and air launches, he said he doesn't know it well enough, but the benefit being an air breathing stage he knows about but by doing the numbers he figures it is cheaper and easier to just build the rocket bigger or add more and a bigger fuel tank.

and he said he will give details next year that year being 2013...If he wasn't ready up to now to reveal that "new" Spaceship he was most definitely not ready to reveal it then so the interviewer probably thought i can pursue this now and get nothing wasting my time or i can ask about other things.

Maybe he is still working on it? I have noticed a few hints of what is to come, but I think he is focusing on the rocket reusability issue for now, otherwise he won't be able to boost all the modules into orbit at a price anyone is willing to pay.
