I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.

X/Y control and click. With the right command software, he could control a power wheelchair, robotic arm/arms, cellphone and PC. The software possibilities are endless! I think a Tesla could donate a couple Optimus arms to add to a power wheelchair and throw on a PC display with linked cellphone. Code it up and he's mobile and connected!

This is phenomenal, but going home the day after surgery is not uncommon. I had my entire left temporal lobe removed in 1994 and I was sent home two days after the surgery.

The vast majority of surgeries have you go home within hours of the surgery. Usually a 1-2h observation period, sometimes something have to happen before you can go, for example if you have gallbladder removal you have to pee once before they let you go home etc. But generally speaking short observation periods is the standard.

For sure. My point was that this was the first Neuralink implanted into a human and they felt secure enough to let him go home the next day. When this is running at scale it will just be like a quick trip to the doctor. BMIs have existed for decades but not cheap enough to scale to the masses, which is what Elon does w all his companies

I'm surprised how precise he can control a cursor already. This basically already allows him to be able to use anything with an interface that he can connect to or use anything that can have an interface added to it for accessibility. The way that the brain is adapting to the training by making the intentional effort of moving a limb translate into a more conceptual and effortless form of manipulation based on intention is amazing. That cursor is becoming a "limb" instead of a tool.

The tech is old but with the advancement in chip industry including designing and fabrication technique ,new signal processing technique, efficient embedded program and hardware with high advanced robot insertion developed on year of research, it was possible. Hell, I could see this being the bridge between some sort of tech to transmit impulses directly into his spine below his injury sight. Nice! If it did not require a head implant I would definitely want to try it just to play with it despite I am not paralyzed or something. I know that the direct connection to the brain is really helping (and is probably required) but I think it is too much risk.

What a lovely fella with the Neuralink (and the engineer too)! I realize this is all experimental, but the cursor dexterity and control is as good as a mouse user (if not better). Once Neuralink is paired with other bluetooth & wifi devices, including a motorized wheelchair, this will be entirely life changing. I'm thrilled for the future with this technology. Thank you very much for sharing. Actually gave me a tear in my eye, very special.

How does the neuralink recharge (wireless?) and does it need to be down in order to load? If it's wireless, could it not have constant charge from the headrest for example?
