Already happening. Noland is actually way better than this, like few hundred more ELO I think, but Neuralink has lower bandwidth than your hand, so it slows Noland down. With time, the new models will get much much higher bandwidth and it will allow to actually play faster than a hand could humanly be, so we could easily get 15 or 5 second chess in few years.
@Stender_

How does he even “confirm” a move? So many questions
@Ormusn2o
@Ormusn2o Ай бұрын
@@Stender_ This is nothing like the implants before. There is a lot he can do, move mouse, left click, right click, or other buttons. It is early for now, and we only have proof of moving mouse and left click so far, but there is no reason why it can't be many others. While the speed and the bandwidth is relatively slow compared to a hand, the "resolution" is good enough to easily have more buttons without slowing him down. The thing is that it just takes time, he's basically training a new limb right now, so just like a baby, he needs to learn to use it.

I know a young paralyzed kid who is 2100 rapid on lichess (pretty sure he was nearly 2300 at some point) and has to play chess with a controller that he has to bite down on to make the moves. He played a two-game exhibition match against Karjakin and managed to draw one of the games. I saw the games and Karjakin was NOT going easy on him. I really wish the kid had this technology...
@cyruahawkins5289
@cyruahawkins5289 Ай бұрын
I mean you shouldn’t go easy against anyone in chess. 😅 I’m sure the kid would want a real win anyway. It seems kind of messed up but really imo that’s more respectful, like we’re all different. Just respect that and treat everyone the same. I never even realized all the medical help neuralink would have though. Kinda hope they focus on that before people worry about “enhancements”.

Levy, electric and magnetic fields do actually affect your brain and mind already. When exposed to a strong enough field, or weaker fields for long periods of time, most common symptoms are tiredness, confusion, etc. and even more "physical" symptoms like heart arrhythmia or skin problems. Physical reality is crazy.

for anyone curious and thinking like levy how this is possible, As far as I know, basically the brain sends a specific frequency of "brainwaves" or neural oscillations( see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neural_oscillation ) ex - gamma waves, beta waves, alpha waves all the time to transport thoughts and messages through electric signals and the neuralink device inside measures these frequencies and returns those. While thinking about a specific thing, our brainwaves always(maybe not all of the time,I am not too sure) have the frequency. the frequency is stored in a device and when the frequency is triggered, its taken as input and is coded to do something. for example when he thinks move mouse up or down or left or right, the mouse moves for a specific time. When you think about it its not so complicated.

One of the coolest things about him playing chess with his brain was that he was doing it WHILE talking to the other person/camera. So cool! First, they told him to imagine himself moving his hand, but don't move your hand(just like anyone can imagine moving a body part without moving it). Then they told him to actually move his hand... And he "could." He couldn't move his actual hand, but his brain was sending the signals to actually move his hand, so the cursor followed. Such incredible technology.

@@ballskin he retweets N*zi and white supremacist posts on a daily basis, and if for some reason you don't think that's bad, he also lies constantly about his companies to inflate their stock value (remember in like 2019 when he promised self-driving vehicles were less than a year away... or when he said all this nonsense to hype up the cyber truck which turned out to be a shoddy piece of junk)

12:30 so basically they are using the computer as input, so they have trained the device in Nolan's head to detect certain electrical signals to mean certain actions on the computer, so the device doesn't need to know different chess board coordinates, Nolan is using the computer mouse telepathically

A million thanks for this video, Mr. GothamChess. Not only did I share your amazemet at the speed the implanted guy telepathically moved his pieces but I truly love the way you presented a fairly balanced view of a highly controversial issue. You surely liked debating at school or maybe you are becoming a philosopher on your own right! I am just 13 years old, and I believe you think you are funnier than you really are, but I definitely am looking forward to more AI-related contributions from you!

To be clear, there are several things people misunderstand, so I'm making a list: -The main difference between Neuralink (and concurrents like Synchron) and EGG devices is not only the number of probes but their quality. EGG have to pick up information through the cranium, are a pain to setup and are *very* visible. -Current Neuralink implants only go one way, and they probably will continue to do so for a while. The only way it would go two way would be to send touch information back to the brain from a prosthetic, for example. No advertising, and no controlling humans. Realistically, you couldn't send enough information to manipulate a human's thoughts with the number and position of the electrodes, let alone the having the processing power and knowledge required about the human brain. -There were already research devices directly connected to the brain and able to do this, but there were several issues: 1) they were huge and stuck out of the cranium, 2) they used a lot of wires, 3) the processing was done by an external computer, 4) the opening in the cranium got infected really quick, so it had to be removed quite fast, the electrodes themselves also could lead to infections in the brain itself, which you don't want.

What intrigues me is how neuralink distinguishes between considering/calculating moves and actually making the move

Your analysis is illuminating and the technological implications are staggering. It makes you wonder about potential ethical concerns with advancing tech like Neuralink.

Even though this is great for this guy and I really look forward to how this advances, it's still kinda funny how a covid vaccine skeptic has a company that puts chips in inside human brains.

i think what amazes me most is that this is a timed game. He can use the mouse equally as effective as a human or close to it. You would think Neuralink would have delay or be slow in some way but it simply isn't.
