In 2008 NASA gave Elon $1.6 BILLION.....have you ever heard of money being also referred to as CREDIT? That allowed him to hire people to make his ideas come to reality, without NASA they would not be reality. In closing, Elon himself gives NASA all of this credit you claim they want, so why am i bothering with this cartoon conception?

Feelings at this time. In 1969 when American astronauts landed on the moon I was approximately 19 years of age. Now in 2020 I am approximately 69 years of age, give or take months of difference. The point is that 50 years of my life has been wasted as I watching all that has transpired in the Star Trek worlds with what could have been. All that 50 years I was considering "well if we were still traveling from planet to planet (at least the moon) we could be learning". But there was so much strife and trouble in the world making it impossible to qualify to join the peoples and worlds of that advanced kind. That is the type of language that Star Trek spoke about with regard to is a world stable enough. Well that sounds a little simple to believe there is a group out there that we could JOIN - but my feelings are of time that has passed and we have not been learning and inventing and advancing. The original space program was credited with so many inventions that were developed and now being used in various fields of all our lives. It is good that we have at least positioned ourselves with a space station in orbit that makes it clear we have not lost all ambition as related to space. Now we are here, at the beginning of the future. It is clear we have the type of people in place that will help us get to a meaningful position in space and they have the backing of the powers that also believe it is important to grow. At least the span of my life has seen three major events of space history. I can only hope that it will see the planting of foot prints on the moon once again. I would like to see if those electric vehicles are still charged and ready to go!

@@smogunner - Hard to believe. OK Let's check the truth. Nasa says on their own website, they handed out a contract in Sept. 2014 to bring two astronauts to the ISS for 2 600 million dollars to space x. That puts one seat at US$ 1.300 million, not 55 million. Why are you lying to me?
@ricardopieper114 жыл бұрын
@@thekaiser4333 Because of all the technology that had to be developed since that date. In 2014 they didn't land the boosters yet. Elon says again and again that the whole Dragon project was in collaboration with Nasa (as you've proven yourself), although it certainly serves SpaceX's interests. So far it has costed 1.3b per seat, but now they have the means to put as much people as they like into space. There is inherent value for Nasa to be independent of roscosmos. Perhaps once the technology is delivered, each flight will cost 55mi and the whole point of Spacex's economics is to bring this price down and down.

-I just love the spot where Doug and Bob stop, hunch down and look up to see the Dragon capsule atop the Falcon 9 rocket. It looks like Bob says, "They are going to put us WHERE?" -When that Falcon 9 rocket lit off, there were only three people in the whole world still breathing. I watched Alan Shepard back in 1961 and felt much the same. That first time in a new vehicle will always be special. -Apollo 8 was another one. The first time humans flew on the giant Saturn 5 rocket. They were also the first crew to leave orbit and voyage through planetary space. They were the first to orbit the Moon. They were the first to see the dark side of the moon. Apollo 8 needs it's own movie, it was a masterpiece.

Have you ever flown in a plane for a few hours before? I used to take 16 hour flights, non-stop, when my parents lived across the country. That is nothing compared to what it's like in space orbit. The first couple of days might be fun but overall it is very painful. Living on another planet that is not very hospitable to human life, will probably be about the most painful experience man can endure. Also why, even though it's scientific fact that aliens would have to exist in the near infinite world, there's no way they're going to get here when they are millions of light-years away. Even communication would take millions of years. So even that is basically impossible. I mean, I hate to be a pessimist, but unless some kind of unlikely wormhole dealio is able to be discovered, it doesn't seem like we'll ever be able to get to another planet that's nearly as good as the one we are on. I would love to be wrong though.

"Time for space x to deliver" What has nasa done in 60 years they haven't progressed any in way shape or form
@bepowerful21604 жыл бұрын
In 2006, under President George W. Bush, the space agency started a program to get commercial companies to begin delivering cargo to the International Space Station. The idea was to save money for taxpayers by having NASA buy delivery services rather than own and operate its own cargo ships. This would also provide a financial incentive for the private sector to develop new spacecraft that could be used both by NASA and by other paying customers. The plan worked. In 2012, an unoccupied robotic SpaceX capsule successfully docked with the International Space Station - a first for a commercially owned and operated spaceship. Having companies take astronauts to the outpost was a natural extension of this cargo program. NASA announced its commercial crew program in 2010, under President Barack Obama. Companies that received initial funding for developing spaceships that could serve as space taxis included Blue Origin, Boeing, Paragon Space Development Corp., Sierra Nevada Corp. and United Launch Alliance. In 2014, NASA selected SpaceX and Boeing to transport its astronauts, awarding them contracts worth $6.8 billion. A year later, the agency named the four astronauts who would eventually fly in these spaceships - including Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, the two crew members assigned to the SpaceX test flight that launched on Saturday. The shift to commercial crew-transportation services in 2010, coming just as the agency's 30-year-old space shuttle program was winding down, marked a real change for NASA. Many were skeptical, especially in Congress. Bridenstine credits former NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, who served under Obama, for his efforts to make it happen.

Tounushi I don’t believe Russia will be able to offer India a better deal than SPACEX/Boeing. That’s the thing.
