I've had the book for a while, but I always assumed that Ashlee was a female.

What a superb interview.Great questions were posed to Ashlee Vance, which were answered very openly and honestly. May I also say that the interviewer did a great job.His composure and thoughtfulness certainly brought out the best in Mr Vance. Hats off to all concerned in the making of this no BS interview. Most sincerely JF ( UK )

+John Malkovich Love the scenario you drew up... and I concur. These national, religious or other walls we have been building MUST STOP ASAP! While I believe this species will not survive the next 10 generations, IF they don't all cooperate. AND, Elon is absolutely right (it's only logical) we must become a space-faring society.

Elon is absolutely fascinating. I have always been interested in inventiveness and people who have this vision. Likewise I have always been interested in science fiction, especially the ideas of future technology. I have already seen so many new kinds of products being offered for sale, and it is fascinating to be able to watch it come about. Elon Musk is a hero of mine, just like Nikola Tesla and others.

paw2005 I think it would be great in the 2019-20ish region because enough will have happend to fill another book and then maybe another book around 2025-27 with the first people getting to mars, neuralink making some accomplishments and the boring company digging tunnels all over the place. And he will probably have one or two new companys which are like boring and neuralink right now. I don't think he will be tesla ceo then because i guess tesla will be a huge company with enormous market shares in energy, cars and maybe even batteries. So he will probably get the model 3 production running and announce a few more models (smaller car, pickup, etc...) and then search for another ceo which will run daily business.

Elon has an eye on genetics. His early areas to focus were IT, energy, space, genetics and AI. This interview makes Elon appear a sad human being - socially misfitted. We shouldn't expect people who do extraordinary things to live ordinary lives. Fortunately Elon understands heart...so he is not totally in the social woods

+Ryan Murphy Can you specify your pity, please? I am reading the book right now and found the interview very reassuring about the human aspect of the entire venture - to me, Ashlee now does a very convincing job and managed to write a worhty book along "In The Plex", "The Everything Store", "The Innovators" (which managed to be what "Jobs" really wasn't) and "Hatching Twitter" (to a lesser degree, not such a great book) - I wish "The Facebook Effect" had been like this, but it has probably just been written too early. So as a response to a 1 hour interview, you really might want to specify what exactly made Ashlee Vance a poor choice. I was quite positively surprised and will make it through the somewhat slow first chapter more easily after this.
