Don't get me wrong, I think that Elon Musk is a hugely bright man, but several elements in here bothered me: - How can one create a sustainable city (and fast) on Mars when so far we're incapable to do it on earth? - Procreation is easily promoted but the key is, as mentioned, a society in which people want to procreate and see a fruitful future. The environmentalists don't want extinction, but see it as inevitable in a world where climate change will make day to day life harder and harder. And this is not EVEN to begin speaking about the women who will be giving birth to these numerous babies in a world where in many places, their own bodies aren't completely at their own disposal. These seem like logical themes which I would have liked Elon to mention. He also failed to mention that there is no way we'll all get to live on Mars or elsewhere so in a sense his expansion could very easily become escapism (although I don't blame him).

I think god wants us to spend our energy on this planet, not Mars. Turn this planet into the original vision of beauty, peace, and abundance for all. Living in joy here and wanting for nothing. Being happy with beautiful oceans, rivers, trees, soil, air, plants, food gardens, animals, horses for sure! We don't really need rockets & to move ourselves to outer space. I really doubt god is happy things are going in that direction. We already have a beautiful home suited perfectly to sustain human life.

ABSOLUTELY. Why else would God create the universe if just wanted everything to stay on earth. It would be such a waste of real estate, time and energy. Definitely better to leave it blank instead of creating all that stuff and don't want us to go and enjoy it. Besides everyone who believes in God acknowledges that God's gift to mankind is free will, choice. With it God has allowed us to make a decision, follow the path we choose regardless of whether it helps us or kills us. The choice is ours the ball in our court.

excellent points about regulation. Municiple regulation for simply building your own home or addition is extremely punitive and costly with the delays waiting for permissions, and his point about ecosystems of consultants requiring additional funding kills the individual trying to get ahead with his own real estate value. The regulation cancer feeds off of the fears of the weaker among us. If only it were legal to do a study about the demographic breakdown of those people. Wouldn't it be interesting to find out reality, if only that were considered useful.

I agree with taking away regulations. However, abortion laws that were in place were keeping the government out of human decision making. Now, women that want to have children are having medical emergencies that effectively sterilize them. Elon, what are your thoughts?

IMO, to put it simply and succinctly, government is the great corporation that has the opportunity and responsibility to protect, support its citizens' freedoms, safety, integrity by initiating and enforcing laws to regulate fairness and stability. When gov't veers from the focus on safety and stability of its citizens then corruption increases. So I agree with Elon Musk to a certain extent. However corporations (especially in a Democratic capitalistic culture like US) need regulations - not unnecessary bureaucracy. Intelligent regulations, please. Yes and not to forget to replenish the earth.
