it was spent on education… It was research. Animal testing isn’t ideal, but it’s currently necessary for drug development and physiological research to name a couple. The cats one likely wasn’t waste, and likely has flow on effects that have easily returned the investment back i.e formation of new products and businesses. I can’t speak for the drag shows one, I don’t know what it was doing but most of these weren’t wasteful, the toilets one is looking at water savings, which can have flow on effects to consumers amounting to billions of dollars returned. The monkeys gambling one teaches us about addiction, preventing it (or from the casinos pov- utilising it to make money to benefit themselves and economy, likely driving a profit to the government from that research long term).

Bro, my father used to work for the school district here in CA, they waste so much food and items you cannot believe. I mean literally thousands of pounds of food is dumped daily. i didnt know that. A good compromise might be to replace the senior year (12th grade) computers EVERY year, and the OLD computers go to the 11th grade, and their old computers to the 10th and so on until the computers are completely useless, and then they'll be used as SINGLE PURPOSE powerpoint projectors or for the kindergarten classes, b/c those little kids will likely spill/damage etc the equipment and they can barely read, so it'll be mainly flashcard and "learning to count" apps and widgets.

AGREED! I've got a family member in the military who used to be in a position where they saw spending... our government pays $60 EACH for a basic HAMMER-- the same ones you get at Home Depot for $20. Why are we paying 3x as much for the same item? Who is getting this business??? Follow the money trail. And that was several years ago, with inflation I'm sure that same hammer is being "sold" to us for $100 each.

Casue littery they can, the army is like “heres a blank check” and the contractors are like, well the army will pay any money since they dint have a set budget, so might has well charge then however much we can get away for, if you can get 20$ of the army or 100$ wish one would you got for? And the numbers are so low that the army those not even notice is for when you have a pool of 6B the diffrence betwen 20$ and 100$ is not noticable is to small to be notice.

@@Z_cow the problem is a lot of these studies are nonsense that could be done by the universities own endowment funding or asking their liberal donors for money instead of the gov't. the issue is a lot of useful research funding requests get ignored due to all this garbage that does get approved.
