Cybercab door can set to open only on sidewalk side, and 1 person can slide into opposite side. Without steering wheel, it would be easy 😊

Tesla can easily detect which side the customer is entering and open the door on that side. IMO.

The "lambo" doors on this vehicle offer significant advantages: - Easy entry and exit: I was at the event and the upward-swinging doors make ingress and egress easier than conventional doors. - Space-efficient: Unlike conventional doors that require wide clearance, these doors are ideal for tight spaces and high curbs. - Safety: Reduced risk of door collisions with other vehicles or cyclists, especially on the driver's side. - Effortless operation: The strut-assisted mechanism makes opening and closing easier compared to traditional doors, which require more force when fully extended. While sliding doors could be an alternative, they would compromise the vehicle's aesthetics and clean body lines. Overall, the swing-up doors are a practical and stylish choice for this application.

@@lamgineer You don't have to slide over on a bus or a subway car. You don't have to bend down into them or climb out of them. This vehicle looks to have been designed with its main function to look futuristic. No one should care what a taxi looks like.

Ark, after viewing a dozen YTubers confusion over Robotaxi door design, I comment here only. Tesla engineers = GOAT designers! Anyone using a wheelchair is Smiling! Finally, transfers in/out of vehicle are Quick, i.e., no 5-minute dismanteling of chair--just fold and load, safer eirther side on busy streets! Tons more safe features for disabled community.

I think a very key point they missed in why SpaceX used this method to catch the Super Heavy booster is the sheer size/weight of the rocket. It’s over 70m (233ft) tall and 9m (30ft) wide (essentially a 20-story building). A parachute would be infeasible due to the weight/size. Same thing for landing it on its end like a falcon booster (~40m tall), it’s too heavy and would have a difficult time staying upright without a significant amount of added reinforcement and fuel (making it even heavier and more costly).

I think the SpaceX mechanism makes sense. It's better to catch the rocket at the top of it, letting it hand and swing - any slight imbalance will result in a controlled wobble, instead of a wobble that could result in the top of the rocket toppling over.

Is there any reason you couldn't pop off a model 3 or Y steering wheel. Then replace it with an airbag that auto levels so its not spinning around while a Y or 3 is in Robocab mode. Pair that with a physical slanted cover for the pedals and the driver's seat is freed up.

I think it's strange how people are forgetting a fundamental difference between Tesla and Uber: Tesla doesn't aim to merely take over the Uber style ridesharing operations, but they aim to change the entire market and the way people are using cars from the ground up! If you calculate the cost of being chauffeured to and from work by Uber, it is impossible to be cheaper than driving yourself. And you need your car also for buying groceries and weekend travel. No way Uber would be cheaper than driving yourself. So, you need to own a car. On the other hand, the price of ridesharing by a Cybercab might (I mean, is intended to) become cheaper than owning a car and driving yourself everywhere. Elon wants people to sell their cars and start relying on Cybercabs for all of their transport patterns which used to be done by driving a personal car. Swallowing Uber type operations is merely a sidekick. But because we cannot imagine such a future, or don't dare to dream the way Elon does, we cannot even start calculating these profound changes in our society.

Has ARK considered the impact on transportation of automated delivery services? Also, the impact on retail in general. Cheap, autonomous transportation will indeed increase miles travelled but it doesn't have to mean PEOPLE will drive around more. I believe that it will mean a massive increase in delivery services, so goods will be delivered rather than people driving around.

I question how much of the SpaceX success is Elon - and how much is his SpaceX COO. It seems like SpaceX does a way better job of holding to their estimates than Tesla, and their goals are even harder to acheive that Tesla's. Has anyone else noticed this.

I'm not questioning Tasha's broader analytical skills, but I really struggle with the $10+ trillion dollar estimate and the idea that Robotaxis will become the dominant form of transportation in urban environments. I get that, on price atleast, robotaxis could become very attractive to users. But A) You're assuming a cultural shift - that consumers are happy to move away from independent ownership of transportation (and all the kudos associated with owning a nice car) to shared transport and B) Elon has already talked about congestion being a major problem in Urban environments (his argument for the boring company). In the UK we have charged congestion zones (or 'Clean Air Zones' same thing) springing up in multiple cities. Roads are gridlocked in peak times and pot holes are plenty. I can only assume that if people leave cars and trains/buses etc for cheaper robotaxis in large numbers, urban roads will become more unusable and higher congestion charges will come in to pay for increased road repairs and to force people back onto trains/buses.

Yes, Mars is a goal but we know how Elon is always thinking and planning far ahead of the near goals. I am hoping that there is already a plan to go from Mars to an interstellar body that could support hominid life. Currently a potential such target is Proxima Centauri b, a planet orbiting a red dwarf star in the triple star system Alpha Centauri, our closest neighboring star system. Being 4+ light years away from Sol, travel time will likely involve a modified "Ringworld" type of transport mechanism. Many additional challenges will need to be resolved before actual interstellar travel and exoplanet habitability can be achieved.

Are those speeds really EVER achievable? Not saying we couldn't, through technology around the corner, accelerate a craft to those speeds, but how in the world would you avoid collisions. Even a tiny particle would destroy the starship. I suspect this would not be a cost effective endeavor now, even for Musk. Maybe in 500 years.

I think there's a very good chance that robots (potentially Optimus) will take the place for a large percentage of humans sent to Mars for a while. So the question for how many people will be sent to Mars in 20 years, it's probably significantly less than what would be originally considered if humans were the main source of labor

I think for Tesla enthusiasts, this event was a step sideways from v12.5. We wanted to see something far better than v12.5, and we didn't. They didn't even let the attendees use a new app to hail cabs. Still confident that Tesla can eventually leap frog Waymo and the Chinese - but the event was a let down unless you dont follow Tesla, and seemed like a waste of money - not sure what Elon was thinking-probably rushed.

Robotaxi has more headwinds than Optimus. I believe Optimus will deliver more revenue much faster than robotaxi. Look how long it’s taking for Tesla owners to buy FSD. The use cases for Optimus are endless. The wow factor is huge. A night club owner would pay a lot of money to have a robot serving drinks and interacting with clients.

LOL SpaceX has already saved billions of dollars in cost through its reusability. But of course that doesn’t matter to you. Or the fact that millions of people now have access to high-speed internet at an affordable cost that may not have otherwise. Yes… “biggest waste of taxpayer money”. Oh that’s right, SpaceX is a private company that mostly funds its own program. But again probably doesn’t matter to you because you’ll believe what you want. Go ahead and naysay all you want while the rest of us continue to be amazed and celebrate the glorious future.

How can we ever expect that FSD will be able to drive a car autonomously when it can’t even read. It’s like a human who can’t read being allowed to drive. To date Tesla can only recognize a small white sign with numbers ending in 0 or 5. It can’t tell if the sign is a speed limit sign or a route sign. When driving on an interstate it can tell whether it’s a car, truck or bus when it comes to speed limits. Let alone more complex signs giving important information in words . Even the cheapest LLM can read a paragraph and understand what it says. Why don’t address that in your videos

At $.50 per mile the income potential for owners is poor versus the risk of your car driving the streets. The insurance will be high. I don’t see how the model works financially. It needs massive scale. Tesla will make money but not the owners. As an investor I don’t want Tesla to own the fleet and be a service company. Stick to be a tech company
