im not gonna lie, ive been using this bike everyday for 2 years and the only problem I had were the typical ones you have with a good bike, pumping up your tires and adjusting the brake strength. probably one of the best bikes out there for its price

I have been riding on this for year and a half now, so some experience is here to share about the bike. First and obvious weakness is non adjustable seatpost angle. The right angle of the saddle is very important and this was a must for me. Other than that, I changed plastic pedals for metal. Seems more durable if more force will be applied to them. Tires are ok, I would say even very good. At first they appeared spongy but after a few hundred kilometers they are fine. Maybe brake pads could be upgraded, which is not a big cost. Mudguards? They are cheap and I would rather have adjustable seatpost then mudguards. The space for mounting mudguards is very tight under the brake assembly, so choose mudguards wisely. Gear ratio is set as a compromise between easy acceleration and average speed. On flat I would prefer 44/16 and not 18. But 16 rear cog is also easier on your legs on climbs. Steel frame is prone to rust if you scratch the paint. To sum up: good bike for the money. At the end, that is why I chose it as commuting bike.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such an in-depth and informative comment. I agree with the saddle angle, but there is a solution to this as well. You can replace the seatpost completely, with one that allows you to change the angle. Happy riding! 👍😁

I’m a novice when it comes to bikes. Are you able to give some guidance about some mudguards that would fit?
@marcgasper8226
@marcgasper8226 Жыл бұрын
@@elliotpack2312 decathlon says that raceblade pro xl mudguards fit well. If you have a little skil, you can try to fit cheaper alternatives on your own. I took a set of cheap 700 size mudguards in a local bike shop. The diameter of a mudguard must fit to diameter of the 700 wheel. Then you can cut them and adjust to your bike. I used screws and zip ties. Mudguards shoud be securely tied, with no loose and no movement. Wheels sould spin freely and brakes shold have no obstacles to do ther work properly.

Hi there! Funny, for me as in possession of other bikes worth 5x of the Elops price, the saddle is just right for the intended use. Commuting in the city, max 1-2 hours, this saddle is no big problem. My first tuning was better tires and brake pads - and a wider bar. (They should give the two bigger sizes a wider bar) All in all a perfect bargain for this price with easy and cheap possibilities for individual upgrades. Pedals get changed when worn out. Same with bottom bracket-

Comments are full of praise for this singlespeeder (?). Point one: Decathlon does not even install both freewheel PLUS fixed cog, knowing that this bike simply cannot appeal to any serious rider who might like to switch. Their mechanics would most likely suppress a smile if anybody asks for a fixed cog. This bike is meant for occasional short trips and will end up rotting away in a cellar or being replaced pretty much sooner than later. Point two: for all the praise, imagine getting a decent budget bike with a better frameset, better wheelset and/or cranks, then upgrade the one or other weak part - you would feel like in paradise because of the vast increase of riding quality for like double the price. There are plenty on the market, and usually on sale in the beginning of the year.
