See the thing is, Sepultura members saying they were taken aback by their drummer leaving for another band and how it affected their plans… they actively then decided to call up a drummer they knew was already drumming for another band, putting them in the same situation.

The difference is Eloy wasn't a random hired drummer for sepultura, he was the drummer. Greyson is a hired gun that was playing for suicidal tendencies, and it didn't slow them down one bit if you look at their schedule. Consider the music being played too, sepultura was gonna have a hard time finding someone that can try to emulate Eloy. Suicidal tendencies on the other hand could pull off a show with any decent drummer

Man it would have been a hugely difficult decision by Eloy, but slipknot will be his future for hopefully the next few years and if he didn’t accept the offer now he would have missed out. I’m sure it tore the guy up, but he made the right decision.

it's tough. tough in the same way of imagine dragons V Serj Tankian, really. both parties are valid, but don't invalidate the other's case. Sepultura needed him. they were days away from hitting the road and needed him for their final run, and he left. but then he needed another gig. he's a young but renowned drummer, with a promising future ahead of him. once in a lifetime chance to keep that going or let it pass by and possibly lose the ability to keep drumming for a living. ...also, didn't know Sepultura was saying goodbye. salute to one of the greats. we love ya! and you made us all have a great time headbanging it out ❤

I see slipknot at least once a year ...seen them at sonic temple this year and have to say it was the best performance I have seen them do (even without clowns presence) sence they're co headling tour with Slayer in 2012... He could have played through the entire farewell tour and let the opportunity pass him by only to be out of a job by the end of it but instead he took the vacant spot in another massive metal band that still has some fuel left in the tank. I t is a bad situation overall. I understand Eloy being younger than the others wanting to keep playing and having this "now or never" opportunity with Slipknot. I also understand Sepultura feeling like WTF because it is the last tour and it was about to start. I hope that as time goes on Eloy and the other 3 guys are able to be on better terms. They were in the same band for 13 years and had a few great albums.

Eloy was hired, he was not a member, and he publicly said that. Eloy was already too big to Sepultura, with all due respect. Every single band has to be prepared to have a sub. Eloy broke his leg and still did several tours playing with his left leg only. The fact that Sepultura is still insisting on make a point about his departure is very sad, because seems like they are jealous and envy at this point. Greyson is a great fit and is doing an awesome job. Also there is Eloy’s roadie, Bruno Santin, who was hired as a roadie for the tour that Eloy did after the surgery with the idea that he would replace Eloy in case he could play entire shows, and still they kept Bruno as a roadie. I respect sepultura A LOT, but Eloy’s decision is 101% understandable.

Sepultura gave Slipknot influence and history, but nobody listens to that. People listen to good music and Sepultura is allergic to musicality. If he hadn't left, he would never have 1.2M followers today. Most people are proud of Eloy.

Eloy was working with Sepultura for more than 10 years, and he was never a part of the band, always a contracted musician, and the band was ending, and he had the chance to go to Slipknot ( his dream band ), and he tried to argue to be in both for the tour, but he couldn't . Eloy made the right decision for himself, and a band ending can hire another drummer. Sepultura never made Eloy ( the best metal drummer for years )a partner and end up losing him when he found something better.

Eloy betrayed Sepultura. He abandoned them at an incredibly important part of the bands history - their ending and final tour. He also stuck two fingers up to the Sepultura fans. Yes Slipknot was a big opportunity and involves more money but integrity, respect and honour are the most important things in life. He should of told Slipknot he wouldn't be available until after the farewell tour. But Slipknot came knocking and asked Eloy to jump. He replied "How High?" I have watched some of Slipknots latest live shows with Eloy. I dont think his drumming style adds much to the Slipknot sound even though he is putting his own spin on things. He was signed for his "name" in my opinion and to get Slipknot trending again. I am an old school fan of both Slipknot and Sepultura with Sepulturas releases in the past decade being far superior. I am no longer a fan of Eloy the person though.

Sepultura no longer exists. I listened to their first album on cassette, they were my favorite band from the start. When Max and Igor Cavalera left it was no longer nor will it ever be SEPULTURA, I haven't listened to any album with this new vocalist, nor will I.

He asked Slipknot if he could schedule both and they said no. Eloy is 20 years younger then the rest of them, just because they want to end their careers doesn't mean he does. If your boss came to you and told you that he was going out of business and you'll be out of a job in a matter of months with no income. Meanwhile, some one offers you a better, once in a life time offer would you take it or stick with your current job out of loyalty knowing you'll have no more income? Only a fool would stay with their current job. And that's what Sepultura was, his job, which was going lay him off in a matter of months. It wasn't any more unprofessional of Eloy then it was of Sepultura to expect him to stick around at the sake of his career.

Mark signed the same thing with Kerry King, he wasn't allowed to tell the guys in Death Angel. Just part of the business. Eloy said "“The band was going to break up, and I didn’t want to stop playing drums at the age of 33. I had a chat with Slipknot, asked about their schedule and if it would be possible to juggle the two bands, but they said no, it wouldn’t be possible, I’d be exclusive. “So it was my decision to leave Sepultura. It was complicated, I told them when I had closed the deal on February 5 or 6. That very day I called a meeting and explained the situation. That was it, an individual decision.” So the same day Slipknot told him he was in the band was the same day he told Sepultura.
