Greetings from Australia, my Grandfather was an engine driver here in NSW. It is good to see a firewoman as well as a fireman but neither of them were wearing the traditional neck tie.

Nice to see a lady on the footplate and taking an interest in preserving steam locos. I wonder if any women were employed as drivers or firewomen in the days of steam. I'm sure there must have been some that were interested. I think it was a reserved occupation during WW2 so I suppose there was only men on the footplate during those times. Nice video, thanks for uploading.

A modified hall, in good 'nick' was as good as any castle. One of my last firing turns at Cardiff East Dock (in 1964) was on 7913 Little Wyrley Hall on a 'control train'. It was a pigeon special, had 26 vans on and I couldn't stop her blowing off. Fantastic loco.

A Hall, my favourite engine as a fireman. IF you've got a good driver will do everything a Castle even a King will do. But my Dad swore by the Kings for his time on the GWR.

from usa the prrr had automatic stokers on the big engines some smaller ones did have hand fired like the g-5 and a few L class were hand fired was told they had 2 firemen on those engines back breaking work indeed.
