It's even more convenient to add the WiFi credentials of your local network, so it will be reachable by any device, like a desktop PC without its own WiFi adapter. The configurator automatically detects the new device/receiver and will show a popup to select it as target for flashing.

It is easier this way because the RX's do not have very far wifi range, and you would need to be right on top of the router in most cases. It is easier to be closer to your lap top or phone.

I am so impressed with ELRS I wont use any other system now, the EP1 at 10mm x 10mm has basically replaced all my FrSky L9R RX's and they not only out perform them but have telemetry as well!!!. And the L9R is a damn good receiver.

Thx Lee! Great stuff. Interesting thing about the web page; the RX is set to ip 10.0.0.1 My router was also on that iP address. I re-ip’d my router to 172.16.0.1 so the RX page would come up.

One thing to be aware of with this is that the access point name and password are not configurable. You can set it to join your home network but when you are not in range of that network, it will use the same access point name an password. It could be possible for someone to reconfigure your receiver without you knowing if you were working on you quad with the receiver powered on. This should be fixed when v3 of the firmware is released.

I was wondering this... So Express LRS uses AETR as the channel order? Does that mean in Edge TX we should set the _Rx channel order_ as AETR? Late bloomer... Still used to the old Futaba, JR, and Hitec's channel arranging orders, and didn't know what my new ELRS and Zorro's should be set at. Thanks!
@Painless360
@Painless360 Жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, AETR has become the standard in lots of parts of the open-source part of the hobby thanks to it becoming the default channel order on lots of flight controllers. You can have the main channels in any order you want but this is the default. Check out my series on ExpressLRS that covers a lot of the basics. Best of luck!

Lee - I expect your channel 5-6 example was on purpose! If you are using a Kopilot you cannot stick with channel 5 since it is a two position switch. So I put my mode control on 6, switch the 5 output on the web page to 6, and all is right with the world.
@jamesmalone4755
@jamesmalone4755 Жыл бұрын
I am confused about how to change the output. If I change the output of 5 to 6 Aux 2 do I use channel 5 or 6 in the mix page on my TX16S, and which channel do I assign a switch to.? Do I still assign a switch to channel 5 for Aux 1? I need to Arm using channel 5 but don't want to put my Flight Controller into Manual Mode which uses channel 5. I just wish I could get a better understanding of what I am doing in ELRS. I really need a step by step explanation of what to do, and what the effects of all the changes are.

@@youngmangoingwest I am using the Flight Controller that comes in the OMP Hobby VMO VTOL. It uses channel 5 PWM out for Manual Mode, channel 6 for Hover and Forward Flight mode.
@youngmangoingwest
@youngmangoingwest Жыл бұрын
@@jamesmalone4755 So then you need a 6 channel PWM output ELRS rx. I believe one was just relatively recently released. Think of it this way: your TX sends a number of channels to your RX and they don't really change. So your TX has to have "arm" on "aux1" which is channel 5 over the air. With the kopilot I just set channel 5 out of my tx high - with openTX or edgeTX you can bring up the channel output view and see that 5 is always high. That tells the TX and RX that you are "armed" which turns on some other stuff that you want, the details of which don't matter much. Then program channel 6 on whatever switch you want for hover and forward flight. Now here is the secret sauce, put your manual mode switch on channel *7* within your TX. Put your RX into wifi mode and open its page, and you will see that you can rearrange channels from your TX to appear on physical PWM output channels. There you are going to tell it that PWM output channel 5 should come from the TX channel *7*. Hope that's clear, the only tricky part seems to be getting the RX web page up - once you do that swapping the channels is pretty straight forward. You can use the lua script on the TX to put the RX into wifi mode.

Don't forget to mention that ch5, aux1, should be remapped cos ch5 is for arming and only has 2 positions. Set 5 to aux2 or others for increased output range.
@RSCRaiden
@RSCRaiden 2 жыл бұрын
Zero gains to be had. Use ch5 for arming since only ch1 to 5 is sent in every packet, use the channel positions in the remaining channels for everything else.

@@Painless360 thanks a lot it works like you said it depends on what position the servo turn ...so when i turn the radio off...the servo turn right ...its the position where it stops the motor .
