Dale is definitely my favourite in terms of style. Even if playing Eriador/Arnor in the campaign is glorious. The mix of militia troops, reinstated rohvanion regiments, newly formed ones and figuring out how to build the armies as you reclaim more land and rebuild infrastructure. It is awesome. Love the Dale cavalry, the athala rangers, the gadraughts, the horseguards etc. So much inspiration.

Well, cav is rare in the mod. I could beat anything with my dale army that was 50% rangers until I faced a Harad army with lancers. So cav is pretty darn powerful.

angelowl89 In my Rohan campaign i just had 2 armies between 1/2 to 3/4 full, all cav units, and they would fight every battle for me haha. Eomer leading 1 and Erkenbrand the other ... ah good days. trolls were pretty annoying tho, i didn't have too many mounted skirmishers

In vanilla I have played the byzantines loads of times and think I got most things down. I finally figured how to beat western armies early on. All cavalry force. 1/3 lancers and two equal sized groups of mounted arches. Lancers go up a hill and the arches race to the flanks. Ideally you have the archers behind the enemy line, if they turn around you charge them in the back. Running out of arrows isn't a concern as you just squash the enemy from all sides causing mass panic. All cavalry armies can be really powerful.

This is how I imagine the Battle of Caanae. When Hannibal's calvary chased off the Roman calvary. Then, the Numidians swung back to reform their formation and charged into the back of the Roman infantry while Hannibal's Carthegian and European alliance pushed forward, crushing the Romans.

Yes, it is called the Cinematic editor and you can do some pretty cool things with it. But be ready for bugs and a high learning curve. It took me years to master it fully.

+Zane G Yep, most of the orcs of mordor were just fodder units. There is a handful elite, but they were kept back to guard the gates and fortresses. No need to waste the elite in the first assault.

Been sifting threw the code on this and making all the AOR units recruit able from any location for some reason i can only get Rohans Helmingas to recruit from moutain desert or forest terrain everywhere but grassland but i got every other unit working fine anyways how many people are tired of the AOR units and using 95% militia for a majority of the game?

my favorite tactic in Rome 2 and still applicable in medieval 2 is just to have a army of mostly generals and just steamroller all the units in a tide of death and something like the mongols

first of all, you can't have several generals per army in Total War: Rome 2 and secondly, the Mongols did not just 'steamroller' their enemies, they used many tactics like the 'five fingers', the 'shooting circle,' the overlapping units', the false retreat, the hidden ambush, and the box of doves.
