Elton John - Believe/Made in England (album version 1995) With Lyrics!

The opening tracks on Elton John's 1995 album "Made in England," recorded at AIR Studios, Lyndhurst, England. In the title track "Made in England," Bernie Taupin's lyrics describe Elton's influences, which were actually largely American. The song makes mention of Elvis, Little Richard, and Cadillacs. The song "Believe" was the last song written for the album and was originally chosen to be the title song, but Elton changed his mind at the last minute. He felt that as an album title, it sounded too mystical. The entire album has a very intentional reflection of John Lennon and The Beatles. "Believe" was released as a single before the album came out. As a single, it did not reach the top 40. The album was dedicated to "David."

4:48 Is that a loop made with a drum machine? If so, what drum machine was that? That beat sounds cool. I wonder where I could find just that loop. It sounds like a beat made for techno or dance music.

Taupin's often a bit obscure in his poetry .... but he seems to list a lot of strong negative, destructive powers (war, cancer, killing, hate....) and shining through it all "I believe in Love".....

@@RonnieFriend Somehow I don't he would agree with this approach today. Old Reginald has definitely softened up and become much more Conservative in his views on life. I guess it comes with age and having a presumably loving family of his own. Hard to believe this song is already a few decades old.
