Elton and Ray performed this in Charlotte, NC in Nov 2019. Life changing, truly the highlight of the night. Ray is mesmerizing, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him, while Elton sang his best of the evening. I attended the Greensboro, NC concert in April 2022, although the concert was incredible, taking Indian Sunset and Daniel off the playlist broke my heart. I literally cried. I’d held my tickets through the pandemic knowing those songs would be my reward. I’ll be in Washington DC September 24, 2022, it will be Indian Summer. Hearing Elton sing Indian Sunset and watching Ray one more time will make it perfect. Don’t let the sun go down on this beautiful song without allowing the Native Americans attending this concert experience Indian Sunset in our nation’s Capital. My grandparents were Cherokee and I am proud to have a little bit of that in me. Thank you Elton and Bernie and all of the band for the music of my life.

I heard this last night in Cleveland and when the song was over I was numb...... I wish youtube could make you feel the music the way we did in the arena.

So true. The beginning of this song in the arena feels almost spiritual. It's a moment I'll never forget.

I was at the show in St. Louis last night, and sat behind Elton in the stage left first section about 10 rows up. I was well familiar with Ray and his Greek Theater Indian Sunset performance with Elton. When I saw he was a part of the band, I got really excited. When they played this, I was in heaven. Those drums shake the floor, and it gives you goosebumps. I'll never forget it.

I was at Hanging Rock here in Victoria Australia last night - 25/1/2020...much better sound and visuals...but RAY COOPER was OUTSTANDING...plus there was a HUGE screen with close ups of his techniques..suffice to say this is an incredible performance by Elton and Ray.Peace ROCK ON ELTON...xox

I was once working with a deaf-mute Native American boy of 16. I played Madman Against the Water hoping he might hear something. He did. Poignantly, not know what he was listening too, it was Indian Sunset.

I have been attending Elton's concerts since 1975, often attending more than one show per tour. I had never heard this performed live, though. Then... in the Tacoma Dome Farewell Tour just recently, I stood there and sobbed quietly, tears flowing for the entire 8 or so minutes. I could feel the piano and the drums right up into the core of my being. Thank you Elton, and Ray... and thank you Jim Johnson for sharing this!

Now there seems no reason why I should carry on In this land that once was my land I can’t find a home It’s lonely and it’s quiet And the horse soldiers are comin’ And think it’s time l strung my bow And ceased my senseless running

Well, Elton, I love this particular lyric of Bernie’s a lot also. (Along with Daniel, Madman…Water, Burn…Mission, Skyline Pigeon, I’ve…Movie Too, and, yes, even both Rocket Man and Don’t…Sun…Me, which I never get tired of hearing no matter how many times I’ve heard them.)

I've seen Elton probably 20 times and never saw this song live until the farewell tour shows (I was fortunate enough to see the 1st two shows in Allentown and Philly). My best friend had seen Indian Sunset in California years back and I was always jealous. Jealous NO MORE! This has to be one of the grandest, most emotional songs EJ/BT have ever written and Ray is, well Ray - perfection. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for including it Elton and to Jim for posting it here.

It's definitely such a shame that this song got removed from the setlist when the tour got back on the road again in 2022. Maybe we can see him sing this post retirement?
