Elton wrote most of the songs on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in about 20 minutes and those are actual hits. Being normal people, it's hard to fathom that kind of skill, but hey that's why he's a big deal!

And apparently the whole process was completely professional: he and Bernie Taupin would have breakfast, then he'd come into Elton's office, drop a stack of lyrics on his piano like incoming mail, and Elton would go through them one by one and add music to each. The two of them a REALLY good at what they do!

@CrunchyNutKBar Watch him do the same Inside The Actors Studio and again he wrote a song on The Parkinso Show on the spur of the moment to lyrics he'd never seen that was so good that the host was actually laughing as he performed it he was so gob smacked. It's well known that he usually takes less than thirty minutes to even write his classics. I can do the same imrpovising on the piano to any lyrics but I'm no Elton John because his melodies are simply the best...
