My favourite Elton 's cover is the Oletha Adams's Dont let the sun......

I've just been listening to this as part of my forthcoming review of Two Rooms. She has a strong voice.

Billy Paul’s Your Song will always be my favorite. Keane covered Goodbye Yellow Brick Road nicely. Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart have some terrific live versions of Mona Lisas as well as Curtains. Oleta Adams’ Don’t let the Sun go Down on Me is great.

Thanks for this. I've added those to my Covers playlist and hope to get around to reviewing the new ones to me.

Nice video. Some other covers that are really good include Aretha Franklin (Border Song) which everyone knows, Billy Paul (Your Song), and Bettye Lavette (Talking Old Soldiers).

Wow - just checked out the Lavette version. Never heard this before. Have added these to my Covers playlist.

Elton John being such a huge name in music history would of course lead to an enormous number of cover versions, but I won't fall in the trap of listing dozens of them here. I'll stick to only one: the late Mary Travers (from legendary folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary) take on Indian Sunset. It's amazing and worth anyone's attention.

Maybe you could review Elton's covers of other peoples songs. Blueberry Hill is one, Alone Again with the Petshop Boys, In Private with them as well, Honky Tonk Woman (17/11/70) - most of these are live ones - Heard him do a cover of Superstition which can be found if you search for the Elton John Bologna April 14th 1973 gig on KZbin (that will give you the whole gig, including Love Lies Bleeding, minus the FAF part, ahead of writing that possibly, pre GYBR release, while they were still writing and recording the album, or soon after), Song for You (Live in Oz), Whole Lot of Shaking Going On (various live shows), Johnny B Good (FFS! 🤣🤣), I Heard it though the Grape Vine (Live from Moscow CD/streaming too, other events around then as well)... oh so on. Maybe even those bits and pieces he did ahead of his own albums, demos of things like United We Stand, Signed Sealed Delivered, etc, on those Elton Goes Pop cd things. Just found a cover of Pet Shop Boys singing Believe/Song for Guy (feat. Elton John). Can be found on KZbin Streaming. I know they did it live together, at an Audience with Elton John, but didn't realise it was also on a Pet Shop Boys album. Kind of a cover, though has Elton singing on it too, Pet Shop Boys too, on an album called Nightlife: Further listening 1996-2000. Listen to Mika doing I Want Love on KZbin. (didn't sing the bridge though - so bring it on, etc)

Thanks. Great idea for another video (series) of Elton's covers of others. I've added the Pet Shop Boys to my playlist of covers. Interesting to combine Believe and Song for Guy.

Josh Groban's cover of Empty Sky was one of the most unexpected Elton covers I'd ever stumbled on.
