@@mikeguidara1262it was the beginning of a new era for him, after getting sober in 1990 along with changing his style and looking after himself physically he looked like a reborn man. The One was a more lively and exciting album, Sleeping with The Past was great but The One has more energy, Simple Life, The One and The Last Song are some true gems on the album itself.

Yeah quite an album release for someone going through all that.. I know what it's like first-hand, without being a famous person, a musician for a living, being talked about in the press, or any of that... I wonder how many of these tunes were in his head before he got sober.. and which kind of he began working on even in withdrawal and such, and so on.. I know Bernie has to give him lyrics first, so maybe not many were in his head at that time.

I remember the days when my brother played in a band in Mobile...and he could play the piano like Elton John .....and we would sit up in the living room until 3am....listening to music....and just putting on an albumn and saying....."Listen ...to this part..." and just be so totally consumed with the music. These were days when WET WILLY was from Mobile, Alabama too...and we all just loved music.

This song is like a musical lesson on "split chords" I'd say... really demonstrates the power of moving the bass note to something not just other than the root of the chord, but a note that actually works and means something..
@richatlarge4625 жыл бұрын
Few people would notice that, so thanks for that. I play Elton's catalog on piano, and the one thing he's always done is use bass notes other than root in many chord choices. It makes all the difference and gives his songs that unique sound. I get satisfaction every time I play those chords. And at the end of this song, it's a master stroke to play the D chord while holding the Bb bass before resolving to the Eb.

The One Elton John I saw you dancin' out the ocean Running fast along the sand A spirit born of earth from water Fire flying from your hands In the instant that you love someone In the second that the hammer hits Reality runs up your spine And the pieces finally fit And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the Sun You're all I've ever needed Babe, you're the one There are caravans we follow Drunken nights in dark hotels When chances breathe between the silence Where sex and love no longer gel For each man in his time is Cain Until he walks along the beach And sees his future in the water A long lost heart within his reach And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the Sun You're all I've ever needed Ooh, babe, you're the one And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the Sun You're all I've ever needed Ooh, babe, you're the one And all I ever needed was the one Like freedom fields where wild horses run When stars collide like you and I No shadows block the Sun You're all I've ever needed Ooh, babe, you're the one

Two amazing talents! I would be hard-pressed to name a favorite tune of mine. That's OK since I believe I have all of them! They all seem to remind me of a different girl. The One. It has. so much meaning for me . It is like something that took place in my life years ago . It is about someone in my family . “0u” Babe . If the person that this song pertains to besides myself reads this he or she will understand where I. am coming from . Just. where are you ? Are you doing well ? Do yo know how much I and we care .? I know you are out there somewhere and I think you know where I am . You know who is typing this . Mistakes were made and it was not fair to you or any of us . We are still family no matter what heartbreak it has caused. I Pray and hope someday we could let by gones be by gones. As someone we all know would. say. “Keep the Faith “.
